    They are all basically neglected after 20+ years - due to time and/or poor work.
    My 2003 had 18k miles on it when I bought it and a binder full of **** work performed to the tune of $40k. It presented as new. $100k in work later (inside & out) and it finally is. The BAT would be a great one to buy and sort, at least you know what you are getting into and it is honestly presented. You will still need to sort the cooling, look at electrical and wiring, hvac, emissions, belts, bla bla.

    You have to WANT a 456 and go in eyes wide open. They are famously expensive to maintain. They only imported 1,600 or so and that was 20-30 years back. Finding a wrench that knows your year 456 (or any 456) is very difficult and repeat repairs will happen. Each car is much different in the details. Especially M models.

    Dealers will not help. We have them barely trained up on current/future product and actively discouraged from learning older cars (2019 and back). This due to the complexity of the new and future cars and managing warranty expenses and shop charge backs. A 456 would be a total anomaly in the shop. Factory techs are largely parts swappers.

    For that kind of money - I would likely go back to a 550 because it would likely appreciate better over time with less maintenance costs. You have a real beauty, but 2000 miles since new - is also something I would steer clear of since I intend on driving it. I would be put 2000 miles on it in one year. You are clearly waiting for the right buyer.

    Also, on the plus side, nobody has had the chance to screw anything up whilst working on it.
    It is still “as built by Maranello” and you do not have to worry about correcting any sloppy work.

    That is worth a premium too.
