I have a "new to me" 456M GTA. The fore/aft control on drivers seat moves about 2 inches. I cannot find any obstructions as I and another friend both have looked. Any suggestions?

    Welcome to the forum, Laurens!

I don't have a 456M to play with, but I have the workshop manual (which may or may not help) ...

Does the seat move any further using the "easy access" switch "A"?

Pressing "A" and moving the seatback forward should move the seat fully forward. Returning the seatback to the upright position should make the seat return to the "preset position".

I have some wiring diagrams if you need them, but it's not clear from the diagrams what components do what. Note that there is a potentiometer in the seat which the seat ECU uses to remember seat positions, but I don't know if it affects normal operation with the fore/aft controls (B1). As the fore-aft motor does run (briefly) and the switches do seem to be working, it does seem like there is an obstruction of some sort or a more complicated control issue.

Do the seat memory switches work?

    Experts?

My 456M driver seat automation gave up the ghost and caused an electrical concern (battery draw down) and a subsequent “alarm” concern. Initially the dealership just replaced the fuse. In any event, a pinched wire (or short) was resolved and the problem was corrected. However my seat memory function does not work. I come to understand the seats are problematic and wish you luck. Welcome to the forum it has been a great resource.

If the normal seat fore-aft control does rely on the position potentiometer, and the potentiometer is faulty, there is a gentleman on eBay who can provide you with a 3D printed replacement for the component which most often fails in the potentiometer.
