I'm going to test drive a few 456M GTA vehicles soon. Is there a way to tell if the automatic transmission is in good shape by the feel of it alone? Any procedure on this? Or is there a way to tell the automatic transmission is in bad shape - in which case I would definately walk away from. Of course, if I like the car and the test drive works out ok, I'll have a mechanic do a PPI on it.
Check service records for fluid changes. Also look for records of trans work beyond that. You need to remove trunk floor to even look at the fluid.
Thanks for that tip Rifledriver. I will look over the service records for that bit of information. I know when test driving a manual transmission car what a bad/or going bad/ clutch feels like. However, for an automatic transmission base car, is there a way to tell something is not right?
After driving a few you will get to know what they are supposed to be like. In the end let the guy who does the PPI be the judge. Pick one who knows GTAM's.
