I have a 2000 456M GTA and a couple of the trunk liner screws have popped off. How do these attach? The main dealer advises that a complete new trunk liner is required. Except for the two missing screws the liner is perfect. Thanks.

    Hi,

I presume it’s pretty much the same as 456 GT, except there’s no spare wheel well. Where were these screws situated? They (at least most of them) should have a typical coarse thread receiver in the piece behind the trim.

Or are you talking about the trim on the trunk lid? I’d call the ”liner” in the trunk carpet and the leather pieces on the ceiling and edge of the trunk I would call trim or ”finishers”. In all cases the screws should have something to hold on to, either metal or plastic. I’ll check the spare parts catalogue.

    Cheers!

Most of the screws have small, conical plastic washers between the screw and the carpet. I haven't found a source for these so made them myself (not a problem on a lathe). The screws run into square plastic inserts in the metal, which can be bought from fiat/alfa/Lancia/Iveco parts dealers. The liner and trim is hold with some two dozen screws in total.

I don't see why you should buy a new lining if it's just two screws missing. Oh, well, I guess that's why I've never been to a Main Dealership (of any make)?
Perhaps the dealer is right and there is more to it that we don't know... Otherwise suggest you just fit 2 screws!
