Now I am going. I haven't been in a few years because there is nothing there anymore. I'd go for a Ferrari. :)

Great job for Chrysler. I just hope the crowds are even slightly manageable (the Lamborghini stand is always chaos-even on the 2nd week).

Good move by Fiat to get some traffic near the Chrysler stand. As far as I know Chrysler/Dodge/Jeep do not have anything interesting new for 2010. They will prorbaly show some rebadged Eurpoean cars that I'm not too excited about.

Just an FYI, there will not be a 458 Italia at the Detroit show afterall. Myself and a couple of friends were planning to make the drive from Milwaukee/Chicago just to see the rumored 458 Italia in the Gallery but alas that will not happen.

Do you mean that the 458 will not be in a special gallery (with Lamborghini) but will be at the show in the larger Chrysler/Jeep/Fiat section?

Sorry, the 458 Italia will not be at Detroit on any stand or in any 'special' Gallery. Just thought I would make that clear, in case someone like me and my friends were going to go to the show just to see the 458 Italia. And Sorry to bring bad news so early in the New Year.

The Detroit News says something different. As of this article of 12/31/09, the 458 Italia will be on the Detroit show floor positioned between Dodge and Jeep.

    http://www.detnews.com/article/20091231/AUTO04/912310356/1364/auto04/Maserati--Ferrari-to-share-Chrysler-spot-at-auto-show

Here is the floor map of the Detroit show which seems to confirm a Maserati stand in between Dodge and Jeep as the newspaper suggests, you can only assume the 458 will be within that Maserati stand.
As far as "The Gallery", its hard to get a vibe on what this is all about. I'm purely speculating, but I think it won't be factory displays, more of local dealers in MI and nearby states showing off some of their current inventory that you normally would see in their showroom.

If Dan from Cauley is reading this topic, can you chime in what you heard. I vaguely recall in the past that cars coming into the Detroit show were sometimes dropped off at your dealer first.

I guess to clear up some of the confusion there will be a Ferrari at the show just not a 458 Italia. But hey if you want to see a 599XX then definitely check out the show. A Very Cool car and worth a look and a bit of lust but not a 458 Italia.

I am told there will be no 458 in Detroit. The Chrysler stand should have a 599XX and probably a California.

At The Gallery, Cauley will bring cars for display....a California, a Scuderia, a 599, and maybe a 612.

with all the media attention around the 458 it seems crazy not to show one in Detroit. I was looking to go to the show but not sure now...

I'll actaully be in town and attending the show the weekend after the gallery takes place. All I hope is that if the 458 does by chance show up to the gallery, it makes it to the Chrysler stand as well.

At the very least, I'm happy that Ferrari is showing up in some form to the show. I was pretty dissapointed by my local LA auto show last month.

Did they decide to pull back? The Automotive News reported on this originally, so it must have been coming from a pretty definitive source.

Sorry to bear more bad news but there will also not be a 458 Italia at Cavallino. Although there will be a first public appearance of a one-off 599 that will at least be worth a long look.

Man I wish March would get here sooner....there will be a lot less snow and a lot more 458s.

Funniest thing though...JUST now coming on CNBC is "Detroit Auto Show: All Access" & they're using what looks like a computer generated 458 that spins around & zooms in & out of the screen to change scenes of their introduction.

Using the one car that WON'T be there. Shameful.

I thought Ferrari was going to have a 458 there. What happened? Anyone ask the people at the display? Anyone know when and where the 458 will be unveiled?

    Thanks.

You might try reading this thread and one other, all is revealed several posts back.

    1) 458 will be launched on both coasts simultaneously in March.

    2) The reason that the 458 was a no show at LA, Detroit and Cavallino, see #1.

Family politics are tough. Fiat might be the Dad to Ferrari, Maserati, and Chrysler, but Luca is the Father.
