    Hi
I have been successfully using the battery conditioner connection socket on my 2012 458 Spider to plug in my battery conditioner using the three-terminal female plug every since I bought the car almost three years ago.
However, for some unknown reason, the battery conditioner no longer recognizes that it is connected to the battery when I plug it in.
I have checked the battery conditioner by hooking it up to another battery and its working perfectly. I've also checked the three-terminal female plug, and that is OK too.
I'm therefore guessing that there is a fuse for the connection socket that has blown, but I don't know where this fuse is (or indeed if there is a fuse!) the manual doesn't seem to mention it.
Has anyone else had this problem and how did they solve it?
    Thanks

Socket is the weak link. Bypas it and do direct wire to battery run under carpet behind drivers seat. Problem solved.

Or if you’re going to direct wire make a port in the front cargo area or wheel well.

Apart from not recognising it has been hooked up, is it actually charging your Spider battery?

A specific pin on the charger connector is assigned to both the warning light and the start inhibit (and doesn't usually have a fuse). Another pin is responsible for the charge (and should have a fuse).

With the charger off, but plugged in, can you start the car?

Do you mean you hooked it up to another car with the same 3-pin (and warning light) setup?

Is the 458 three-pin charger and receptacle like the 430's?

If so, you could, in theory, with the charger removed, temporarily jumper pins 1 & 2 of the car's receptacle with a piece of (insulated) wire to trigger the dash warning light. This should also inhibit start. There will be a small current flow through the wire (as it will be activating a relay). If you get the dash warning light, your charger lead is at fault, not the car.

NB: Don't jumper pin 3 by mistake.
