Hello, Couldn't find a thread addressing this particular problem, so hopefully someone here knows the answer. I have a non Ferrari branded CTEK tender connected via the factory dongle port and it has been working great for about 6 months. All of a sudden I noticed the tender had an error light and it was like it wasn't connected or the battery was dead. I unplugged it, reconnected it and the tender looks like it's charging (first 4 lights illuminated, but then goes to error) which usually means it's been charging over 4 hrs and it's not holding. When I check the voltage on the battery it's 12.39,car starts just fine. Battery is only a year old. I connected the tender directly to the battery bypassing the dongle port and it fairly quickly goes to float mode with no error. My question is, is there a dedicated fuse for the dongle port, or a relay that may be bad? It appears my battery and tender work fine when bypassing the factory charge port. I suppose the dongle adapter could be faulty, but I replaced the fuse in the adapter and same scenario) Thanks!
I have no answer to your Q. You should look in the owners manual at the fuse diagram. The charger can be faulty too ... try another first to be sure ... the are so cheap ...
The ctek chargers have these male/ female plugs. I had an 2.5 mtr extension lead by ctek and the battery was flat 1 day. Turned out to be a bad connection in the male/ female plugs. Ok at first but not after bei g unplugged a few times. Shows as an error light on the unit
In case this is helpful in the future for everyone: just to find the battery charger fuse, it is named “Battery charger” in the manual and it is behind the driver seat for LHD cars. See video for location and how to access the fuse box behind driver seat (cross reference with your manual):
I had to exchange that fuse once too. Beware that you are carefully removing the big rubbers around the door ... and put it back carefully.
Hi Guys i need help, my trickle charger fuse keeps blowing every time I connect the battery charger. I have a genuine Ferrari charger and a Ctek charger, they're both working fine but every time I connect the charger to the car, the fuse is blown away, any help is appreciated. Many thanks.
Apparently a short has developed in the wire to the battery. Open the battery compartment and trace the wiring from the dongle to the battery. It may have come loose and is shorting out. Insulation crimped under the holdown clamp something like that. If you have a voltmeter with probes check for voltage and continuity to ground. If a short in the wire to battery there will be 0 resistance between the dongle wires. Also reverse polarity could be the problem if wires are reversed. You will have to determine which wire on charger is pos and check the corresponding wire on the socket dongle for polarity. Best guess.
