I can report the Bovee did not work in my 2014 458, but the Invery works perfectly- as long as I use its more compatible/ “reduced”/ mode. I also have the car’s standard Bluetooth connection active. Even after a phone call, via the OEM BT connection, the Invery connection picks right up. I dont have to unplug the Invery or reconnect it.

Yes, physically plug the Bovee in before I start the car. But that was just for convenience not because there was a particular order.

For another data point, I installed an Invery AirDual 100 today in my 2015 458 Spider.

    1) Took the Invery out of the little box and plugged it into my iPod connector.
    2) Turned the ignition on and paired my iPhone 13 with the Invery. Phone was already paired with the car.
    3) Moved the input from Radio to Media in the RH screen menu, chose iPod.
    4) Started Spotify on my phone, track is listed in RH Screen, rear buttons work as expected.
    5) BT phone functions as expected.

Turned car off and came back out about an hour later. Phone automatically made both BT connections. RH screen went back to Radio, had to manually set it back to Media->iPod. Spotify track was listed where I left off but paused, back buttons worked as expected.

Turned car off and went back again a few minutes later. Both BT showed as connected, phone worked as expected, but the iPod option was grayed out. I fiddled with the RH screen menus for a bit and it came back, but I had to hit the play button on the lock screen f my phone. From that point forward it worked as expected.

I then entered a Waze destination and the audio came through the car speakers, lowering the music volume while speaking then brought the music back up. That's a big deal for me as the onboard Nav maps are laughably out of date with no update solution that I'm aware of, and I live in a place that was built after the map was loaded, so I can't even enter a home address. With Waze, Spotify and phone all working simultaneously through the speakers, I can keep my phone charged on my low profile Magsafe cupholder mount, see the track playing on the bottom of the RH screen, and still see the map on the phone itself if I need to.

So not perfect as I suspect I'll often have to deal with the random little annoyances like I mentioned above. But overall, this is way better than I expected and makes the car feel much more modern. So far I give the 458/Invery/iPhone13 combo 4.5 of 5 stars.

It’s the dual BT connection, I’m convinced. As mentioned I turned off the pairing to the car’s BT and the Bovee connects EVERY time without fiddling. Otherwise, it was always hit or miss with the Bovee connecting.

I can’t believe some on here are using the BT OEM function for calls. Anytime I made a call using BT in the 458, 100% of the time the person on the other end would complain in some fashion about how they either can’t hear me, background noise, etc etc so I just stopped using it.

Those red lights on the steering wheel are "don't take a call right now" lights. ;)

Driving on the highway with the top and windows up, wife tells me that the call sounds OK.

One small but kinda cool thing.

I took a 2 hour drive today part of which was on the highway so I had Spotify playing via the Invery AirDual. Worked great except I was using the in-car Nav system so I couldn't see the track listing on the RH Screen.

Suddenly remembered that my Apple Watch shows the track/artist by default when streaming. So if I was curious about the song playing, a quick glance at my wrist told me. Also has prev/next/pause buttons on it.

Ok I found the solution to NOT having to turn the Bluetooth on and off in order to stream music from my iPhone through the Bovee adaptor: It’s as simple as turning off the Ferrari connection, or rather hit the forget this device on the iPhone Bluetooth settings.

Ever since I added the Bovee to the 458 I noticed that the phone would have 2 connections, 1 saying ‘Ferrari’ and 2 saying Bovee. I’m guessing the Ferrari one was for the phone. Since I hardly ever make calls from the car, I clicked on forget this device and kept the Bovee only. Now every time I choose media in the car screen it automatically shows iPod (again without having to turn on and off the Bluetooth on the phone).

    Thanks for the update.

So far it looks like the summary for BT audio in a 458:

Use a Bovey and any iPhone, turn off the phone BT, works as expected.
Use an AirDual and have an iPhone 13 or newer, leave phone BT enabled, works as expected.

Apple Watch shows the song info if you can't see it on your RH screen due to using Nav screen, etc.

No, it's as I described above. I just get in the car and everything connects and works. Don't take the phone out of my pocket.

Occasionally I have to restart my preferred music app on my phone (Spotify) but I think that's more to do with what I had been doing with my phone outside of the car.

Interesting. I've not been able to get that to work. But since I hardly ever make phone calls and usually I have my airpods with me anyways, I'm happy with it connecting to the music stream only, at least for now. Thx

I’ve only had my 458 one week. At first I thought can I live without Apple Car Play? Then I decided that as long as I can stream music I’m good. After reading and watching some YouTube videos I purchased the Invery. It worked fine. Then I discovered that Ferrari JBL high fi is nothing special.

So finally I decided that I don’t really need to listen to music at all. I would rather listen to the car for a variety of reasons.

I found the Bovee intermittent at best. Monster has an FM transmitter at Walmart that is seamless and quick. Just have to find the right synch station and it works like a charm with the existing system.

I’ve used this but I found the sound quality to be a lot lower than a Bluetooth or wired connection

Used to use a Bovee. It had to be plugged in each time you started the car. Just received the Invery and it works flawlessly. No need to keep plugging it in. Thanks to the OP for starting this thread.

I've been using Invery for 2 weeks, very happy with it. Phone connects to it every time, shows playlist etc.

Does it default back to playing the track where you left off without having to go through the menu? Currently I have to plug in my phone then navigate through the long click on menu, click to the right to select ipod then long click again to get back to the regular screen. So in other words, with the Invery do you still have to navigate through the menus to select ipod or just hit play when it connects?

I usually have to hit: main menu > media > iPod each time. Plus I have to start playing music in the phone before I do that on the car.
