2015 458 Spyder, bought one year ago from Ferrari dealer in Quebec (much respect)

The factory rear diffuser was somehow damaged (in shipping?) and someone tried to smear some black goo to hide the new cracks... it washed off on day 1.

Dealer took the high road and mailed me a new in-the-box carbon rear diffuser (box says Ricambi) and the debate is whether to install it or sell it. Not sure if it's a value-add for the car overall, as the car is 100% original currently. The cracks are a very easy repair.

Of course 'cool factor' is there if I put it on, but is it a hard project ? Will it help / hurt car value being that it's not 'on the sticker' and I know Ferrari guys are 100% about originality.

How much would I get for the new carbon parts (still boxed / complete) if I were to sell it ?

its not that much of a value add, unless you want it for yourself. I'd personally install it because I enjoy a nice carbon piece.

if you dont care much about carbon, just fix yours and sell the carbon one. I'd expect to only get 1500 for it though.

I would guess good aftermarket carbon like ricambi is going to be at least worth just as much as oem non carbon. I don't feel you would be lowering the value of the car.

If you are worried though, keep the current piece after replacement, then fix and install it again at time of sale.

It’s only a few bolts to remove the diffuser and put another one on. You don’t even have to remove any other parts to do it. Can be done on your back laying on the floor, no need to lift the car.

My right rear fog light surround cracked during transport home. I suspect the car jounced into the strap under it. I later read you should have a 2x4 under the tires because the suspension doesn’t dampen as well with engine off and may bottom out during transport so some extra clearance between the bottom of the car and straps is good to have.

I subsequently ordered some carbon parts (low budget eBay from china) - hopefully they show up soon and I can post about fit/finish. Will be doing track days so didn’t care to spend a ton.

Yeah, please make a thread on the chinese overlord carbon parts. I've seen quite a few of those and the price is compelling, especially for exterior parts that may get damaged during track days!

Felt for $500 (diffuser) and $250 (fog light) from Ebay for about $1K it may be worht the risk. They look great for being fiber gass but don't align vs OEM at all. I'd say they are 85-90% match but it's not close enough to even attempt to install. Sad part is we took off the bumper etc. to do the fog trim only to find out how bad it was. I would NOT recommend buying from ebay.

I forgot to update here but I also found it impossible to get the eBay fog light surrounds to work. I did get the diffuser installed but it wasn’t straightforward since the eBay part was not drilled through the mounting posts that protrude. I had to carefully decide what angle to drill through and then countersink the holes. While I’d like to think I’m fairly skilled I definitely got a bit lucky with my efforts and could have just as easily messed up the diffuser beyond usability.
In the end it fits well enough but I only value its roughly 11lbs weight savings since it’s not really obvious to the casual observer that it’s carbon fiber. I also feel that the straightness of the fins may be somewhat suspect.
