Has anyone thought of removing the cigarette lighter in the centre console and replacing it with a USB plug? Wonder if this is possible, as using a cigarette adaptor is quite bulky. Alternatively wonder if you can install a USB charging port on the sloping bit just infront of where the cigarette lighter is in the below photo marked by X Image Unavailable, Please Login Any ideas or feedback would be great thank you!
I've pulled up the cubby where the cigarette lighter is, to hard wire a radar detector. I didn't look to see how the lighter was mounted as I was just taping into the power. Getting to the underside is pretty easy. I used a trim removal tool to pry the rear of the cubby up and away to get access. From there you can see how things are mounted. I don't think there would be room for a USB port, but if you pry up the trim you shout be able to see what room you have.
