Holy crap...he's a lucky dude! I've seen a lot of those end not so well. Might be fun to grab the engine and throw it in a kit car!
Soooo...these are the plans of a 458 GTS? Seriously glad the driver was ok; that's a pretty bad crash. -G.B.
Just heard some news about the crash. The owner had only received the Ferrari 458 Italia a few hours before the crash and it's said that he suffered an aneurysm which caused him to crash. The fire department had to cut the roof off to free him. He was in the intensive care last week.
Got to figure that VIN is not ever going to show up again. If there was a passenger, that would have been really bad.....the driver really lucked out in the crash and hope he recovers from his aneurysm....that sounds bad and very sad on what should have been a great day of life.......Steve
looks like front airbag didn't deploy. if it did, he probably would've had his head ripped off. But on the flip side, that could mean big trouble for ferrari.
Maybe because the impact was high (windshield level)? So sad to have one of the best and worse days of your life in a matter of hours Heres wishing him a speedy recovery...Kevin And NO; It will not buff out
Front Airbags deploy when the collision is frontal on bumper level Honestly, who cares about the car and law suits, I am simply happy that the driver is OK, because that is what really matters!!! Greetz, Joseph
Maybe if they hadn't cut off the top it wouldn't have looked as bad. On a serious note, the car looks quite good with a little GTS style action in the back like the picture shows.
Unreal!! I have seen pics of crashes like that and usually it ends more tragically. A dear friend of mine NEARLY lost her life like this also. The corner of the truck/A pillar stopped around 2 inches from her crushing her face in. Wishing the driver a speedy recovery.
Just to clear things up. The owner of the car is seriously ill in a Coma in hospital. He had just collected the car form the local dealer and was on his way home when he took a massive bleed to the brain. It was in slow traffic. Can I suggest out of respect for a fellow Ferrari enthusiast (this was to be his 10th Ferrari) and his family that the photo's be removed. It is a very sad incident.
Please remove the photos, it has been requested by the family that on all forums in the UK/Ire that they be removed as he is still seriously injured. Have some respect for the family. S.
Looks like the photos have already been taken & placed on their site complete with watermark, damn I really hate that site.
I was driving a Z28 in 1986. The freeway (405) divider was a simple fence at the time, not a concrete barrier. The fence was held up with a thick cable similar to an arresting cable for jets landing on an aircraft carrier. I hit the fence in t-bone style. Knew I was heading for the fence and laid sideways toward passenger seat. The cable cut through both A-pillars and ended up behind the front seat headrests. The cable stopped me from going through the fence into opposing traffic. I was wearing my seat belt. I walked away. Mike
holy cow, glad you came out alright! I had a similar experience when younger... racing a pretty serious off road gocart / dune buggy through a field that had recently been plotted to put up home sites. They used a quarter inch thick steal cable held taught about 2 1/2 to 3 feet above the ground with small metal stakes... I was racing through the field which i had done so for years and all of a sudden BAM hit the cable head on. The steering wheel saved my life, i would have been decapitated for sure. cable slowed the cart down from about 35 mph to zero, stretched 25 feet deep or so, then flung me back to where the cable should have been sitting..
