Hello all, I've been getting some help from another member on here who has been kind to give me a bit of guidance. I know the predominant reaction would be to search, but after a week or so I have not come across any definitive guide, and those I have reached out to have not responded, so I'm sorry if this comes across as a "this has been answered a thousand times" question. I recently acquired a 458 here in the US, which was pretty much every spec I could have ever wanted other than that it came with the Daytona seats. I then acquired a pair of carbon race seats from another F-chat member, awesome guy, and then proceeded to have them installed, and got airbag lights. I know that Ferrari no longer offers Proxy files due to some lawsuit, so I am left moving over things from my Daytona seats. I have ordered the following to simplify the process, based on the information I was able to scrounge up: 83566100 CPOD SENSOR x1 83454800 DRIVER SIDE WIRING HARNESS x1 266805 WIRING HARNESS FOR MECHANICAL SEAT x2 83454900 PASSENGER SIDE WIRING HARNESS x1 83566200 CPOD PROTECTOR MAT x1 I know I will have to transfer over the computers underneath the seats as well. The information block I have is: is this all that I need? I have heard of the "Baby Smart" system but can't find information regarding what exactly the Baby Smart sensor system even is, if it's just in the CPOD mat, or if it's a separate sensor I can purchase (or not). I've looked over parts diagrams and have not been able to identify what Baby Smart looks like. Seeing if the collective forum wisdom can help guide me from where I am at currently to the finish line, as I am very grateful for the help given to me so far, but I don't want to overly bother one individual. Alternatively if there is a Southern California local or shop that knows how to get this switchover completed without any error codes, I would be happy to pay for the job. Thank you all!
I don't know anything about the 458 I'm doing same on the F430, got the airbag light due to a 2nd smaller connector under the passenger seat which i suspect is a weight sensor. I plan to just put a resistor on the passenger side which is generating the dash error, and then, looks like I'll have to get either Ferrari, or someone with the right computer, to reset it. More here: https://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/posts/148567065/ Would def like to hear how your approach turns out if u get it all working. You have a pic of your seats? Just curious.
I think for the458 it is more complicated, with all this proxy file madness. That said, I ordered the airbag sensor mat itself, which was one of the parts listed in the stack of parts. My current assumption is that the mat can be installed into the seat and that should take care of that issue, but the other issue I am having is that I have been informed the Baby Smart system for child seats operates on a different system, but cant find any more info on it.
It definitely sounds more complicated! Good luck, I hope you get it sorted. Even doing it on the F430 has been a bit of a PITA, in all fairness I'm not using OEM, def would have been easier.
@LateBraking did you ever complete this conversion and if so any thing to note? Issues you had to overcome?
