    Standing looking at the flywheel, the RHS forwardmost plug is #1.
    Image a "U" shape starting from your reference point.
    1, 2, 3, 4->Move to the other side 5, 6, 7, 8 where #8 is the furthest forward on the LHS

    Thank you for the reply , so which Bank 1 (cylinders from 1 to 4) and Bank 2 ( cylinders from 5-8). Is this correct?

    This numbering sequence is unchanged from the vintage V-12's. Also on the old engines the sequence was given on a metal plate attached to one of the valve covers. It probably is now cast somewhere on the engine. It would make sense that cylinders 1-4 (RHS) would be Bank 1.

    So, looking at the car from the rear, the RHS is Bank #1, with cylinder #1 being closest to the rear window.
    On the driver's side (USA car), the LHS is bank #2, with #8 being closest to the rear window.

    Island Guy has it correct. Ferrari numbers their cylinders down the right side, up the left side. Ferrari usually denotes their banks as LH (left hand) or RH (right hand).

    Cylinders 1-4 = "Bank 1"
    Cylinders 5-8 = "Bank 2"

    FRONT

    Left Right
    [8]---------[1]
    [7]---------[2]
    [6]---------[3]
    [5]---------[4]

    Firing order on the 458 is 1-8-3-6-4-5-2-7

    Off-topic, slightly turned on listening to the one girl talk about torque specs and nuts.

    Fun video! I installed a few piston/connecting rod assemblies in an F8 engine during my last factory visit. (I'm sure that engine was used only for training and not put in an actual car.)
