Greetings all, I'm new to the forum and am hoping to get some advice on upgrading the exhaust on my 2012 458. Originally I was debating replacing the entire exhaust system from the header back but am a bit worried on what repercussions it may have on the car. So now I am just considering replacing the cat-back system with either a Novitec or Tubi system. Either system would be with no valves and loud versions. Does anyone have any feedback, suggestions, or sound clips on these systems. I am looking for a very aggressive sound but just am not sure which avenue to take. Thank you in advance, ZM
Personally I would never go without valves. Just get a remote that can leave them open all the time. There seems to be some talk about Tubi not being what they used to be quality wise. Maybe others can chime in on this. It was mentioned in an FF exhaust thread again only last week or so. Novitec Capristo Fabspeed would be my choice if going by what people commonly consider good quality.
2012-458, there are many threads and guys on here who will chime in and help you out 458Trofeo is one for example He likes his pipes Loud
Haha indeed! To the OP: welcome! Look through my threads and you will get all the info you need Feel free to pm me if you have any questions very best
I would go with Novitec F1 muffler box and get the Capristo valve controller so you can decide when the valves are open or not. For longer distance highway cruising, it's nice to have the car in 7th gear with the valves closed when below 5000 rpm...it is quiet and you can hear the stereo. Then when you want to raise hell...open the valves with the remote valve controller. My dealer just picked up my car today to have the F1 exhaust box installed along with the Capristo valve controller and the Novitec lowering springs. I should have the car back by Saturday or Monday at the latest. I will report back.
Thank you all! My car originally had the Capristo valve control but I wasn't pleased with it so I had them remove it and leave the valves in the open position. Having done this, it was louder but still much quieter than my previous F430 with the valves open. The car is currently equipped with the Novitec springs and am debating doing the Novitec exhaust to keep things uniform. Biggest question is which is louder? Novitec vs. Tubi? I test drove that car a couple months ago, seemed like it had some type of aftermarket exhaust on it already? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It was louder than stock, just not loud enough. I felt that my F430 was louder with the valves open than the 458. It doesn't help coming back from the F1 race in Austin a couple weeks back and getting the urge to go louder... The car itself is amazing. Night and day from the F430. Very well optioned as well. Thank you.
I went with Capristo 200 cell cats with heat blankets and O2 simulators on my Speciale. You should look into Frequency Intelligence exhaust systems. They make one for the Speciale and I think for the Italia also.
Get the maximum combination : Fabspeed Header, cat less pipe and Novitec manifold. You don't need to get the manifold with valve control, in the end you would also keep it opened all the time, so just save few grands upfront and get the one with no flaps. When you want a quiet drive, go with your other cars. Only drive the Ferrari when you feel fun.
2012-458: do as my friend Rick suggests, although i would go Innotech f1 for the mufflers http://www.capristoexhaust.com/ferrari/ferrari-458/ferrari-458-italia/italia-exhaust-system/sports-catalytic-converter-2-detail http://www.ipe-f1.com/products.php?brand=Ferrari&id=22812637171548183 best
We have done quite a few system's and to be honest, there are TWO Systems that are our favorite. The first one being the Akrapovic Titanium System that includes Carbon Fiber Tips, and retains the factory valve functionality.... [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8CDhZeJuR2Y[/ame] The second one being the Novitec Exhaust. It comes with various options and you can choose with or without tips, with or without valve control etc etc etc. This video shows their Stainless System with Cat Delete Pipes as well. It sounds like an F1 car. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H-M6DTv4FMY[/ame] Feel free to give us a call at 877-523-6747 for more information!
Alex, Thanks for your feedback. I am leaning towards the Novitec setup. Questions for you are: -What are your thoughts on cat back vs. sport cat or cat-delete/cat-back. Do any of these setups require ecu reprogram? Thank you
Personally - i would keep it simple and just go with the Cat-Back Setup. When getting into the High-Flow Cats/Cat Delete's you then actually end up having to do a Check Engine Light Delete Module or ECU Flash. Although it does sound fantastic without cats, I would stick with just the cat-back personally. Shooting you a PM.
That Akrapovic exhaust sounds really nice. Very natural and crisp. Not a fan of the "F1" sound. It's too artificial for my taste. This is not a V10 revving to 18k after all I'd love to hear that Akrapovic with a set of Fabspeed headers and 200 cell cats.
Here is a good video of the Akrapovic System WITH 200 Cell cats It DOES sound amazing - and if you do this route, Akrapovic has a Delete-R module that eliminates the Check Engine Light. [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0Gux7pneEUs[/ame]
Thanks for everyone's feedback. I've decided on: -Novitec Exhaust System (without flaps) -Novitec Cat Delete Pipes -Novitec Check Engine Light Delete -BMC Filter Thanks again, ZM
Are you in the US? For some reason the Novice CEL delete component doesn't work on US cars. Apparently it works well on non-US cars.
I almost bought this for my Speciale but the shop double checked with Novice and there was s a problem.
