Happy New Year everyone! I need some help. My 458 does not have the fender shields on but I want to install some stick on ones. Could someone give me the measurements from the edges of the shield to the edges of the fender so I can install them in the exact location. 1. Top left of shield to top edge of fender that meets with hood. 2. Top right of shield to top edge of fender that meets with hood. 3. Top left of shield to left of fender that meets with door. 4. Bottom Left of shield to left of fender that meets with door. This should help me get the angle of shield and location correct. If I could get a pic that would help. Thanks for your help!
I certainly don't like the sound of a stick on sheild, but if this is something you are going to do I would suggest finding a 458 locally and measure yourself as this is the best way to interpret the correct location versus someone giving you measurements and getting lost in translation .....good luck!
Other than the fact the car did not come with shields from the factory (the purists may object) there is nothing wrong with stick-on shields from a technical point-of-view. If you want to remove them, a hair dryer will soften the backing and 3M adhesive remover leaves no trace. I do not recall his username, but there is an Fchat member who sells enamel painted shields which are top quality product. Unlike other aftermarket shields, his shields have very thin adhesive backing, as opposed to double-sided tape. The resulting height the aftermarket shield protrudes above the fender is no more than the factory shield. I will measure mine for you this evening.
Respectively disagree...factory sheilds are recessed in the fender, how can the aftermarket acheive the same look/height Sent from my SM-N920P using Tapatalk
There is a stamped depression in the sheetmetal where the shield is installed; however, the thickness of the factory shield is such that it is not flush with the fender. It protrudes approximately 1.5 mm. The thickness of an aftermarket shield is 1mm, thus my comment of being "about the same" as factory.
Here are the measurements from my 2010 Italia: 1. 3.25" - Top left of shield to top edge of fender that meets with hood (measurement is to crease in top of fender, not to edge of gap where fender meets hood). 2. 2.8125" - Top right of shield to top edge of fender that meets with hood (measurement is to crease in top of fender, not to edge of gap where fender meets hood). 3. 2.125" - Top left of shield to left of fender that meets with door (measurement is to edge of fender gap, not across to door gap). 4. 3.1875" - Bottom Left of shield to left of fender that meets with door (measurement is from bottom of shield where it comes to a point to fender gap). I hope this helps. Image Unavailable, Please Login
I get "reverse dimensions" as Vette2Modena ... oh wait, he measured the left fender and I measured the right fender. Silly me. The lighting in my garage is "off" because the yellows in the two shields match in real life, to that of the caliper. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
Fchat member sells them and they are very nice. http://www.ferrarichat.com/forum/ferrari-parts-collectibles/455497-ferrari-scuderia-fender-shields-badges-enamel-carbon-fiber.html
Hi, Measurement 2 should be 3.8125". Thanks for your help and thanks to everyone else who helped. I fitted the badges today.
