So unfortunately the Becker NIT infotainment unit in my 458 has decided to self-retire. I never use the audio or nav functions (because lets face it, they are terrible) but noticed the clock suddenly gone from the right hand display, and then none of the buttons on the right hand control functioning. Went to a tech for diagnosis and they report the NIT is communicating on the CAN network but no functionality. The internal fan can be heard. All basic stuff like fuses, 12v feed, wiring checked and good. CAN repeater good. Right hand button panel tested and good. Even plugged in a spare NIT from a California and it turned on and worked fine. So unless anyone has more suggestions on how to bring it to life, it looks like I need to repair or replace. Its a UK unit, part number 244438 and I've been quoted an extraordinary cost to replace with no timescale (and that's an IF it can be sourced from Ferrari in Italy). I've seen other posts about United Radio in Syracuse being able to repair - has anyone used them and have any experience of costs?
Didn't Ferrari used to offer a rebadged Clarion to replace ? Threads about that I recall so there must be recent alternatives also described here and/or local specialist fitters who can make suggestions - in fact https://www.ferrari.com/en-EN/auto/genuine/458-italia/ferrari-genuine-integrated-infotainment-system
That's interesting and if the price wasn't anywhere near as offensive as the original I would go for that - didn't know that existed, thanks
Ferrari integrated the TFT display with the infotainment unit. Therefore the replacement head unit needs to be able to integrate with the 458 display software. It is simpler to replace with the OEM factory unit.
Mines occasionally doing the same. Ferrari Leeds (UK) say the original part is not available now. But it can be repaired..... I'll sort it after summer. I don't use the radio anyway....
