Just finished my first 2 weeks with my first Ferrari (picture below). I'm constantly looking for words to describe how unbelievably outrageous it is... People always ask "how fast have you driven it". Right away, you know that they just don't get it. It's more than just fast, it's possibly one of the most perfect sports cars ever built. It's fast and loud - smooth and quiet, it can purr like a kitten or roar, it's on rails in a corner and it looks like a super model.
I'm at a loss to describe it.

    Forever hooked on Ferrari.

You have joined the club. Somehow they have bottled a package of sensations that combines power and the reflexes of a much smaller, lighter car with the practicality of a daily driver. Nothing else I know of does this, even cars with greater power.

I couldn't agree with you more! The 458 is a master piece. One of the best cars I have ever driven. Love it! Congrats and enjoy your master piece.

Congrats, AJL. Yes, the 458 is incredible.

Those that get it, do. Others will debate over how it is minutely imperfect or deficient in one dimension or another, to a contemporary. The balance it strikes with the mission to which it was built, makes it fantastic.

EQUIPE....You nailed it! I'll be repeating your quote to everyone who asks me lame questions like "How fast does it go?" or "How much did it cost?".

458 Italia "Nothing else puts your pants 6" from the ground and your heart 6 miles above the clouds."

Agree with all the above. Took delivery of my 458 three weeks ago and I'm am in awe of how beautiful and well it looks and drives. Drove it about 200 miles yesterday. Incredible speed and performance with stability unmatched. Best car I have ever owned. I not sure what Ferrari could do to make it better. Its perfect!

I agree with you. Everytime I take her on a Fcar run, I fall in love with her all over again...even after 5,200 miles! She's refined one minute and a caged beast the next!

FANTASTIC DESCRIPTION!! now lower it 1.5 inches all around, put some wheel spacers in, capristo exhaust bypass, bmc carbon racing air filter and run it on 100 octane and it will even be more irresistible lol

9000 KMS into my 458 and had the chance to attend a Ferrari trackday:

37 laps in 2 stints, never below 6k rpm, manettino in race position, hard breaking into every corner.

    Results:
Green lights on every display available onboard,
    perfect temperature readings all around,
perfect attitude at full available speed (270 kph on 600 meter straight),
    magnificent response in trail braking,
a bit of very manageable understeer when early power applied,
    never fading brakes,
excelent or rather unmatchable gear change response,
zero steer power at every corner exits...

As Jeremy says in TopGear:"What a Machine"

I never thought I could get so much pleasure out of this masterpiece in a few 100 miles with all of its 565 horses in perfect unison...

Today I'm getting new rubber on all 4 corners: too bad sleeks are forbidden by Ferrari (so they say). It's very likely the front pads will need replacement too: "WHO CARES"!!!

in 8 months of ownership, I've had 2 issues with the F458: a dry sump oil leak and a turn signal failure which took the car to the shop 11 days: honestly "minor" mishaps for such a sophisticated monster.

After this first very demanding track-day and a full inspection following, I can say "chapeau" to Ferrari for offering such a true racing street beauty!!!

After reading your post I am more excited to receive my 2014 on order in the spring! Question, you got a 2013, I hear our models do not sound as good as the earlier models, what are your thoughts after owning the car the past year?

You may put Pirelli Trofeo R tires on your italia instead of going to slicks. Trofeos are gripping much better than street tires and gain about 1,5 sec/2 km on a track over them.

    thanks for the tip! pride355,
It could make sense to have a set of trofeo tyres mounted on extra set of wheels for the trackdays.
The dealer offered to store that "racing set" in the shop...
    Thanks again!
