I have decided that as of today I am not going to consider any other sports car that competes with the 458. No Lambo, Porsche, Audi, BMW or even the new mclaren P whatever. This is the car I want. If it means I got to wait 3 years then fine I will, its worth the wait.

The Italia has my blood boiling. No Lambo or McLaren excites me more than this car.

I kept wondering how they could top the F430 but they did it by a mile.

I was thinking this car would be special. It's turned out to be much more than that. Without question, it's the only thing to replace my F430 for me.

Why would ther be a three year wait?
When is the car going into production?
What is the price 280K or 320K?

I'm not sure what the wait is. I know a lot have already inquired. I don't think the dealers know their allocations yet. They may not know until Jan.

My understanding is that the car goes into production the middle of next year for European deliveries. I don't think we will see US cars until the 4th qtr. Spiders---- nobody knows yet. Maybe we will find out when the car is launched in Sept.

No one seems to know the price. Most are guessing it starts at $280 and with most options will reach about 320. But, until Frankfurt, we don't know for sure.

We still don't know if it will ever have a manual and if it did, will it have 6 or 7 speeds.

Well though the 458 is awesome we will have to see what Lambo comes up with, when it comes to the murcielago replacement.

Agreed 100%. This car is incredible. As far as a convertible Ferrari has officially stated not for 2 years. Reason #1 is to give the California time alone to solidify it in the line up. Smart move.

I am sure the wait for Ferrari owners who have a good relationship with their dealers will get it right away. For me since I have an okay relationship, I dont see anything happening for me at least a couple of years.

First cars will be delivered in Europe in Q4. In Hong Kong we need right hand drive cars and the first cars will not arrive until July 2010.

Agree that 458 is a must have

OK, I just landed in L.A. from 7 days without a computer on a beautiful island. I new the official pics were being released while I was away and I was chomping at the bit to see the car.

I'm truly in awe by what Ferrari has done with this automobile. It's a step forward in every way........It will be in my garage.

I agree, deliveries to Australia are likely Q2 '10 I have heard. I also agree nothing else on my radar.

same thing happened to me. i was checking this site religiously for updates......left for the dominican republic. i come back and there's official renderings and a slew of p-shops

car looks beautiful. the (speculative) renderings of the mclaren are so ugly that i have completely lost interest in it. i have a feeling it will be the real star of the next gen crop though. i really wish ferrari had made the 458 lightweight

It's about time Ferrari/Pininfarina came up with a good looking design. However, I don't think that we have seen anything other than PS pics.

As for waiting 3 years and paying a premium, forget about it. There are too many great cars out there to put up with Ferrari dealer attitude and BS, as well as a weak economy. Most dealers are sitting with Scuderias, and people have walked away from many orders.

If it actually turns out looking like the pics, I will probably get one... but on my terms.
