Those who don't like paddle shift cars have never driven the 458.

 

i've driven an enzo. the paddle shift was cool but i'd still prefer a true manual. can't imagine the 458 is THAT much better than the enzo. And it's not about the shift speeds, or smoothness to me, it's about being able to slip the clutch and wag the tail. To hear that clank as you change gears, it all just feels more connected.

Well, of course the 458 is going to be faster, it has a >60 HP advantage when compared to the 911 GT3 RS 4.0L. The GT3 probably offers a purer driving experience though, as it's much lighter and has a manual transmission.

If you want a fair comparison, try comparing the RS 4 to the F430, they have nearly the same HP figures.

Ok stop the press, that is bs in its intent. To some of us a manual is traditional and what we grewup with and what we enjoy so in a sense "How dare you speak for the rest of us?"

How many of you rich guys actually utilize your auto-clutch to its fullest, 1.5-3% of the owners at most?? Also how many of you are willing and able to get greasy and drop a tranny and replace a clutch, bet you won't do that with your precious 'auto clutch'.

If you aren't impressed with the 458, why are you responding to a post from a German magazine saying how great it is? I'm trying to figure that out. Normally, most people who don't give a crap about something rarely are interested in what's said about it.

I mean, I don't give a crap about rap music. I think it's a bit unlikely I would read an article about Ice Cube's latest album -- let alone comment on it. After all, the only thing I could say is I don't like rap music and I wouldn't waste my time to listen to Ice Cube. I don't think that would contribute much to the conversation, do you?

Then again, I don't think I would insult others who like rap music. That would be rude.

Now, if you want to get this thread back on track, please read the article and then either agree or disagree with it.

I guess not everybody loves the 458 Italia, but I am a huge fan of the car! BTW, I noticed in your pic that there is a giant wall mural behind the 458--is that in your garage? If so, where did you have it made?
