    The black sides on my engine compartment are water stained. What product would be
    best for removing the water spots and restoring the black sheen? Just do not want
    to use anything that will leave permanent spotting.
    Thanks for any comments or advice.

    I was hoping for some better suggestions than mine...I use Black Magic Tire Wet. It blackens the panels and so far doesn't gray out right away.

    Griots engine cleaner or WD40 (believe it or not)

    Once you get it all cleaned up, for future reference, after washing, take a leaf blower or compressor and blow it out and give it a quick wipe down to avoid further water spotting.

    Old post but if this is still an issue for you use a product called “back to Black” by chemical brothers.
