Dear Ferrari friends, I have a little problem with my 2011 458 Italia, the engine is "behaving" a little curious between 2000 Rpm and 3000 Rpm, only in this Rpm-range it is like driving in a car that has'n been used for a very long time, as if you are driving on square tyres, the needle of the Rpm clock is not steady, this is visible, you can feel a troubled engine running, the car was for the second time at the dealer, again new software was installed, but the problem is still there, the exhausts are very black, could it be a wrong petrol-pressure ?, does anyone recognize this problem ?,

Don't drive with black exhaust. could be a petrol issue which will plug your cats.. that is not cheap. get it checked again.

the 458 uses direct fuel injection. So it seems as if you have a malfunction with fuel distribution. Take the car to a Ferrari Authorized dealer for sure regarding this issue.

It is a bit of a stretch to presume that FChat owners will know how to solve your uncommon mechanical problem given the insufficient description.

A more detailed approach would be to bring you car to a qualified service center and then tweet your experience.

Your car is out of the factory warranty and you have not told us the mileage or
    Ownership history either.

What is the mileage? How many owners? Any accidents or relevant service history? When did the car have its last service? How many miles have you logged in FCars?

FYI I have owned 3 brand new F cars and have driven about 180,000 miles in the cars and understand a little about service issues.

My 458 spider had 39,000 miles

Modern computer controlled engine management systems are very difficult to troubleshoot without the proper test equipment. In this case, the hardware and software to "open up" and read all the engine sensors and actuator signals in real time while the problem is occurring (hopefully on a dyno). The dealer should have done this and logged all the data for analysis by the engineer (either local of regional). If nothing is out of specification, things get more complicated and it boils down to good old fashion engineering judgment, which can be pretty good given the right person. I'm would be surprised given your description if the first line of defense, a trouble code, isn't being logged. Maybe you are passing through this rpm range so quickly the ECU "doesn't see" anything wrong.
