Hello, so someone tapped into me at red light. I now have a hair line crack. While I will have insurance look at it, I’m wondering are there any good places that sell quality Ferrari body parts at resonable prices ? Thanks

Insurance will get you a Carfax. Carfax = diminished value.

Insurance coverage generally speaking allows you to go where you want to have repairs.

Since you were not at fault, the other party
Is responsible and you should not have to pay anything. In fact you will be reimbursed for a rental car during the repairs.

Did you know that brand new cars arrive with exterior damage! The dealer fixes them and delivers the new car to
    The owner. Happens!

If you are worried about diminished value then one has to take into consideration the extent of the damage. Any metal or subframe deformation?
And then the collectible irreplacebable value of the vehicle. An SP Ferrari now that has potential for
    a diminished value claim

Then it is just a bumper replacement.
As long as the new bumper is factory spec
and paint is done correctly I
    don’t see an issue.

Therefore I’d suggest going to a factory trained and authorized body shop.

You can ask for diminished value compensation. Let us know about that.
I think it’s way too minor
If the only damage Is a slight bumper crack.

Carfax? I’m not sure what that actually reflects. Go ahead take some
    Photos. if it ever comes
up, you can show the minimal
    extent of the
    damage

No matter how minimal the damage is, you still have negative Carfax. I would definitely file a diminished value claim. You can also file a loss of use claim for the time you are without your car.

This is absolutely 100% true! Insurance and police reports all get uploaded to the vin on CARFAX.

I had a 2017 MB G63 that got the fender trim side swiped which was just a repaint for $500 but the police report assumed all right side front end damage per the sketch. It cost me $35K on trade in. I contacted carfax via email as they have no phone number published. After 4 weeks the accident was modified but the damage was already done so I ended up getting an extra $5k but still lost $30K!

Avoid going through your insurance and police reports at all cost.

Not true as to extent of damage = Carfax trigger. Will give you personal account. On my previous 360 a guy was carrying his garbage can up his drive way and it struck my R front fender dimpling the wheel well scraping the paint. Obviously no structure damage, minor paint damage. Insurance paid for it. Didn't know it was car faxed and cost me 20,000 in diminished value at sale some yrs. later. Angry, I asked Ferrari painter who confirmed Dealership owned cars, new cars that come in damaged etc, and some times customer damaged cars do not get car faxed. Has to do with the manner of payment, not just the extent of damage. The party in question here had better find out before repair if notification of carfax will be done. Accepted Insurance payment I firmly believe will enact this flawed consumer protection legislation. Good luck!

So you got 5,000 as a diminished value claim?

When you traded in the car, how did the dealer arrive at $35000. Do they use a formula? Or are they just finding a way to lo-ball you? Or were you comparing what you might have gotten if you sold the car yourself?

If the dealers use a formula of some kind, then this would be great ammo if you needed to file a diminished value claim. Otherwise the insurance can give you a very low amount for diminished value-- which is what you feel happened to you.

(Don't feel too bad, When I considered trading in my MB, the dealer offered a ridiculously low figure. I forgot what reason he gave me. My MB had no car fax accident issues.)

Sorry I wasn't very clear in my explanation (brought back bad my angst).

My G63 was a 2017 with 15k miles on it. When our new G550 arrived in October, was offerred $85K on trade in and was told b/c of the major accident. I said "what major accident?" Then I got shown the carfax stating car was involved in front end, right side, and rear end collision. All untrue as the car was side swiped where the right front fender was scratched. The running board and right front tire on the G wagon totally crushed the entire side of the nissan maxima due to its height.

I had ceramic coating on it so the transferred paint easily wiped off the, but there was a deep scratch in the fender trim which couldn't be buffed hence got it taken off and repainted for $500. So now I went and reviewed the police report and which clearly stated that there was minor damage to the right front fender of our car and all of his left side. The carfax folks misread the diagram and notes and stated alot of damage to my G wagon. Without the damage the car was worth $120 (we paid $155K) so I got the new G550 while I dealt with the carfax folks. After a month of back and forth emails with carfax, report got amended but the wholesalers knew the car and wouldn't give me more than $5k more so in the end got $90K for it.

I don't think my dealer has any formula but dealer only offered me what the wholesaler was giving them. I certainly learned my lesson and will try to avoid police reports and insurance claim if I can.

Thanks for the explanation. Wholesaler? I thought MB dealers sell used cars esp if the vehicle is desirable and therefore easy to shift.. A lemoned car or one which is in terrible shape, that is better off being sold by a wholesaler.

$30,000 for ‘diminished value’ for a bumper scratch and respray sounds very unfair!

(I’m no expert at selling cars. But some places will do consignment agreements. If one has photos of the minor damage this might be helpful But selling a car is typically a buyers market.)
