    All,

I had my steering wheel replaced with an aftermarket CF / LED steering wheel that uses the OBD port to read the RPMs and then activate the LEDs. This was recommended to me as a much cheaper option than retrofitting the OEM wheel. Here's the problem: the LEDs are not calibrated correctly, so they go to fully lit up at something like 5-6k RPM instead of the actual redline. Here's the other problem: the company that did this for me went out of business, so I have no way to contact them (Blackstar in Chicago) to get it remedied or to even get some information on what unit it is, etc.

Does anyone have any idea how I might get this calibrated properly, because either you have one yourself or you know someone that might install these and can give me some advice? Right now, I just have it turned off. Thanks.

Interesting, I would like to see how that works. I am going to say it will be hard to reengineer the product to get the calibration you need.
I have a number of friends / acquaintances that may be capable of making this thing work but the cost may be more than it is worth.
It may be more cost effective to just get a Ferrari steering wheel and get the car programmed for it. I have done this for clients before.

Does the 458 need programming if you have an OEM wheel? I know the Scud and later 430s which have the same cluster ecu just work if the wheel is installed, no programming involved.

This thing has a box that plugs into the OBD, reads the RPMs, then sends that data to the wheel. There has to be some mechanism to program the box, because of the wide variety of RPM ranges that exist with vehicles.

The number I was quoted for this by Ferrari Lake Forest was astronomical.

In my experience, 458/488 need the proxi alignment changed to make the wheel work.

I did the job for a client that purchased the wheel from Europe and the dealer would not program it because they didn't sell it.
Took about an hour to make it work.
