I would like to know more about

    51 Front suspension lift sytem

as I'm concerned about ride heighth/excessive front wheel-arch gap.

what do you want to know? in Switzerland, it sells for CHF5050 (around USD4700). But it is mandatory to take AFS1 option (adaptive front light, CHF2170) on the top, as front lights needs also to be adapted based on angle of the car.
    I took the option

I would just like to know if it is a system that allows different ride heighths for the front (and in case it does, how many mm adjustment allows) or if it's just something to pump the nose up in order to go through steep ramps or similar and needs to go back to the standard position to drive.

40mm adjustment; just for ramps and speed humps as I understand.

Is the 458 so low that having the optional front lift system is needed to clear them? Or is it just an add-on, of convenience, like the parking sensors?

    It's an option.

I think it's something that a lot of us F430 owners wished was available on their cars for some time. Lambo owners have had the option. Silly as it may sound, these cars do have difficulty in parking garage ramps and speed bumps. An additional 2 inches of temporary ride height could really help.

    I would definately order it.

I have a GT3 with a lift kit right now and had an older GT3 without it and believe me 30-40mm of additional clearance at the press of a button makes a huge difference. One car scraped ALL the time and the other hasn't once so far. If I get a chance to build my 458 the way I want it, the axle lift kit option would a must have for me.
