    a) Super Racing Seats
    b) Pirelli Tires

Anyone have any experience with homologation timelines for USA options? Kind of a bummer, had to change order.

There is a homologation issue somewhere. My guess is with USA safety standards.

I don't understand how the seats were legal for the Scuderia, but not the 458.

Daytona insert seats may be more practical. The standard seat pattern on the base of the seat seemed to have already started to 'wrinkle up' in some of the test cars!
I agree; why can't the Scuderia seats be used again?

I'm hoping there is a misunderstanding, and someone has bad data - I need those seats, or I don't fit

I have a Scuderia and I was going to buy a smaller size seat for the passenger. Ferrari wanted $18K for one seat and a 6 month delivery time. I passed. I guess that's always an option if you really want racing seats?

No misunderstanding. If you're in the USA the seats have not been approved for this market…yet. If you ordered your car last week with racing seats, you should have had a call before P status goes final. This does not mean that they will not be homologated at some time in the future.

Contact your local dealer and see if they have the US/ENG 2009/2010 FNA communications bulletin the the 458 or internal code: F142

    Yes

PS: On the bright side, they have a factory clear bra option.

I had problem fitting comfortably in 430,no problem whatsoever in 430S.
To me,it is very disconcerting when the top of my head rubs against the roofliner.
I guess I'll have to wait and see how I fit in a 458 before ordering anything.

Please excuse my ignorance, but I can't understand how the seats are legal for the Scuderia, but not the 458? Can anyone explain why this is?

After the debacle with the race seat compliance on the 430 you would think the issue is dealt with in the 458. No Pirelli tires? I don't understand that one either. I'm glad I'm waiting a little bit for more options to surface. The race seats are mandatory for me.

This is very interesting. Please keep us up to date on any new developments.

It may be that it's a different seat and needs additional approvals?

    Chad,

The 458 race seats are the same seat as the 430 Scuderia. I don't know if you've seen them in person but I sat in them at the Fiorano launch last September. The only difference is the way the centre section is stitched. The same seat is available in the California (in Europe at any rate). I suspect it's not been crash tested as yet for the US if you can't order it.

Here are pics of the 458 seats and Scuderia seats for comparison.

How can something as ordinary as a seat be so sexy? Is there something wrong with me? :)
