Maybe in the US, but not on this side of the pond. Here in Europe a 458 is far from at the same value as a 488, and both are still dropping. Also, aren't 458's that actual move in the 150's in the US now? If so, isn't that a sign of them still dropping in value?

458's are still dropping here in the States. Hopefully for my 458 friends it'll bottom out soon. Seems every one who hates the 488 are the 458 guys trying to keep their respective values elevated. Meanwhile the 488 guys are out driving and enjoying their cars!

100%, I owned two different 458's and loved the sound and the rawness, but personally I liked my 488 better. More refined, more planted, and felt much quicker. Looks are subjective, and I think the 458 still looks better from the side, but looks much softer from the front and especially the back. The interior of the 488 was a big improvement. I think both cars are terrific (hence owning two different 458's), they are just different. IMHO the 488 is one of the most underrated cars on the market today.

Very tough decision... I think a catless 488 lowered on a good set of wheels would take my bet over a 458 with the same mods.

Ferrari is going to keep innovating and selling more cars. 458s and 488s values are going to drop. Ten years from now the used mid engine cars will have SF90 specs. 458s and 488s will be just the same as 360s and 430s now. (Meanwhile you can buy a sedan this year that's sub 2 seconds with the whole family inside)

I sold my 2013 458 spider last week, had it for two years and put 6k miles on it. Sold it for 7k less than what I bought it for. that to me is holding its value 3% depreciation over 2 years.

i think most people that are favoring 458 cause its na have not driven the 488 theres really no lag, alot of power atearly as 3k rpm and it sounds pretty good in race mode .

Actually I bet a lot of peeps had both. It’s just a personal decision. I had 488s and Pista, and they were fast but boring in the visceral sense. 458 tingles the senses, but is older and slower. Lambo is really the only game in town for speed and sound. To each their own.

It would have been a different story if the Italia had the speciale front. The whiskas and roundness of the bumper looks old.

458 for me. I guess it does depend on the type of roads available to you and what you truly enjoy...if you prefer going fast on wide, straight roads and acceleration is really what you enjoy, the 488 has to be your thing.

The 458 ticks all the boxes for me, it's not exactly slow, great sounding engine, more fun on the roads I prefer...

But that's me...It's just the type of car I prefer. I'd take a 2000 7 series over a new one, for example.

I wish the sides had a little more design to them. Rear is wonderful, esp Spider.

I can't help but wonder how much of a hero the V6 car will be. The older V8 generation had the advantage of not sitting in the shadow of a higher end mid engined "regular" production car. That has severely changed with the SF90. Currently those, who don't want a hybrid can still get a V8 car, but soon there will only be hybrids. Then the game becomes a choice between the prestigious big boy or the "entry kevel" little guy. I'm not using entry level as,a de facto moniker, but rather just to illustrate the fact that it will be a car that both with the owner comunity and in the eye of the public, will be the little and cheaper car. Will it be what the Cayman was to the 911 for many years, and to a degree still is? I suspect it will. The GT4 was the best thing that ever happened to the Cayman, and it is now a car people take seriously. The little V6 guy will have a hard time doing the same, as it will never have the redeeming features of a six speed gated box, an NA engine, and a very light design. So as,a hero car, it is uphill I think.

Im just using these figures for illustration purposes.

Our dealer basically said that Ferrari was basically increasing the cost of their cars.

458 > 488 the price went down but that was due to the AUD being so high and no GFC.

The SF90 is about $950,000 before extras here. The F8 is $530,000 before extras, The 488 was $515,000 The only reason for the increase in the F8 was our sheet head state premier increasing SALES TAX . The rest of Australia has no increase in the F8 price.

The LB will be a big jump. I have been told at least $100,000 making the LB here around $650,000 before extras

The Roma here becomes the new basic entry at around $450,000 plus extra's.

Doing this the 488 and F8 will hold their value and might even go up slightly on their current lows.

We have seen this here where over 30 plus cars were for sale now only a few and with much more mileage.

One thing for sure until the secret they kept with the F8 not telling 488 and Pista owners that ordered before the announcement ,

The F8 will be selling along with the LB. Yes unless you are in a hurry to get your F8 you will be able to see the LB. You can make a valuable decision which way to go without the heart ache of swallowing a BIG pill.

IIRC LB will be reveled in a month or 2. Ild wait to see what all the noise is about. But IMO a V6 is a V6 its not a V8 and will always be called the little brother.

Perhaps, but to people who think the Pista and 488/F8 are best in class, then they will love the V6 LB also. Super quick, some flashy style, and the badge makes it a hit.
