I traded my Italia for a Speciale, so yes. However, I have a 458 Spider that I adore for a variety of reasons including the ability to put a lot of miles on without sweating it, and so in that regard it is “superior” to me than a 458 Speciale Aperta. In fact, my 458S looks like a 458SA in that it is triple yellow...best of both worlds! :)

With the horrible taxation system in Finland a Speciale would total 550-600kEUR. That doesn't exactly motivate a buyer too much. Without this, hell yeah.

Nice that cars are so cheap in Finland. Be happy you are not taxed like Denmark is. Down here a Speciale had a base price of 825k € before options. Tax is also added to options. So before you know it, you are looking at over 950k €.
    The 488, F8 and Pista,are no different.

Right. This is the bloke who said that the Pista had numb and poor steering due to the electric steering...

    That's bad. Plain wicked!

I was really looking forward for the Nordic Meet in Denmark. But now it's postponed two times already. Trying to keep the faith.

Nice place. Great people, excellent food, decent climate, low crime, etc. etc. etc. As with everything else, there are ways to make things a little easier and cheaper.

I never worry, especially since very few are armed. I don't think we had a single actual shooting in 2020, and so far none in 2021.:)

That's a vicious cycle. Study shows that you will get shot 4.5 times more likely if you are packing. I am glad there are hardly anyone carrying in Finland.

I have 458 spider but claiming 458 is better driving car than 488 is a madness.
Desirability 488 will lose hand down.
Although 458 has only one thing on 488 which is the exhaust note for everthing else 488 is a better car.
Some like the looks of 458 more and maybe for me looks of 458 is great but I can see some may prefer 488.
Price is not an issue anymore as similar Milage for both cars worth similar money especially spiders. Same Milage spiders are now same money.
In a few years 458 will worth more than 488 as 488 is stuck in the middle.
All day you are advertising you can’t afford an f8 as basically there is no way you would buy a 488 over an f8.
if the poll was f8 versus 488,99 percent would go with f8
A poll with f8 and 458 would be a lot closer than you may think.
And look at Aperta 458 prices which are 150k more than 488 pista aperta and the gap is growing.
i doubt f8 special model whatever they will call aperta version I think it will be EVO won’t worth as much as a 458 aperta either.
Desirability of 458 over 488 is very clear.
    Not even a question
I have other versions of Ferrari as well and my view is in 10 years 458 will worth 25 percent more whilst 488 will be 25 percent less at least.

I respectfully disagree. I could have bought whatever Ferrari I wanted. I wanted a modern mid-engined supercar, and I test-drove a lot of cars. And I chose a 488 Spider. I think the 488 looks much better than the F8 and Pista, and it definitely sounds better than the F8. I did prefer the slightly smaller steering wheel of the F8, and it obviously feel slightly quicker. But I think the 488 looks classier, it has performance and drama aplenty, it sounds tremendous, and is also more practical with a 230l frunk - I can actually use the car rather than just crawling out for a few hundred miles per year.

I was tempted by the 458 and yes, the scream of the NA V8 at high revs is addictive. But overall, the 561lb/ft kick-in-the-back torque of the 488 makes it so much more fun in everyday driving. And despite the prevailing '488 sounds crap' rhetoric here, it does not - it sounds absolutely fantastic when wrung out... but I can also drive it around town without sounding like an absolute ****head.

It's the perfect usable supercar for me. My wife drives it to have her hair done. I've taken it to the local supermarket and done the school run in it. We take it when we go for a weekend away. And I've wrung its neck around Snetterton and Silverstone with tuition from Ferrari Challenge racing drivers, scaring the ass off myself (I normally track a Lotus Elise SC). Perfect car!!! I absolutely love everything about it, and plan on owning it until it, or me, dies.

I´ve owned both and I still have my 488 Spider. The ONLY thing better with the 458, is the sound. But for me I think the 488 sounds better, and I don´t have to rev it that much to get maximum torque!! I think the 488 looks better and feels more modern with bluetooth and those things for the music. It´s a matter of taste but I don´t miss my 458.

They are both gorgeous, and wonderful cars, but I do not think the 488 looks better. Especially from the side.

It's just a matter of opinion. Some prefer one thing and others something else. Personally I think the 458 front end view is one of the worst of any Ferrari, due to that goofy "smile" and those whiskers.

The one thing that I hated also. Interestingly they fixed that front with the speciale.

owner of 458 and driven 488 extensively throughout Italy. Unless you care about 0-60 time, there is no comparison on the engine sound and soul of the car. 458 100%.

Yeah, but no prancing horse on the front of the 488. That is a huge miss. Looks generic.

Thats an easy fix but I dont need it in the front to tell approaching cars that its a Ferrari :)

$100 or so spare parts and glue it in place or I can get a piece of Aluminium CNC'd to hold it.
