I have attached this video to show the reservoir is just pushed on the brake master cylinder and a single screw holds it in place. There is no pressure in there because if there was it wouldnt have rubber seals only FAULTY SEAL
I can’t see that stopping 5500 spiders I can see them in U.K. around 225k pounds and in usa 350k dollars as usa is more pricey
I have a 458. Would trade it for a 488 GTB if the opportunity presented itself and required no differences in money. I track my 458 hard and explore its limits on a near weekly basis at VIR, among other tracks. A bit frustrating not being able to compete with many Z06’s at the track in my modern Ferrari. I love the 458, but it’s shortcomings are clearly evident on track. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
If tracking were the primary purpose of the 458, I’m inclined to agree. A 488 would be less likely to be eaten alive by the C7 Z06. Another feature on the 488 is the larger rear brakes. But man those turbos would get one heck of a workout.
I think back in 2010 when the 458 first came out it was a track monster where little to nothing at the time could compete. It will devour 911 GT2 and GT3s and Z06’s from the 2010 era, but around 2014 or so that’s when it lost its edge with Porsche and Corvette coming out with quicker machines. Absolutely, that is the plan. I’m still honing my skills and learning the STO. It’ll bite hard if it doesn’t get the respect it demands, but by fall I’ll have been to most tracks up and down the east coast and will begin tracking it. While I’m not quite there yet, I see your point about having reached the limit of what the 458 can do on a track. I’m at VIR on 03 and 04 July, and Atlanta 25 and 26 June, btw…… Now, back to the 458 versus 488 discussion.
Shortcomings evident because you compare 2010 to 2022! In 2010 the 458 was as good as it gets or close, since then things have improved so got compare fairly. Get a 458 challenge and u will see it’s still mighty fast Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
But in 2022 a hot 4 cylinder will blow the doors of a 458. Sad to see that. But hey people dont love the 458 because of its speed I have been told many times. Its the N/A and the sound.
In other words it’s the pleasure to drive. I have more fun in my 355 and testarossa than my friend in their 720s i guarantee that Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I guess I will never get the worship for the 458... if one wants some purity and classic feeling, go for a V12 and a manual gearbox and not a V8 with a DCT and tons of electronics. OTOH if one wants some performance the 488 hits the sweet spot of having enough power without being too fast for the average driver (i.e. myself). On track the 488 is rarely outperformed because most drivers cannot exploit the additional performance of cars that are (often marginally) faster on paper, whereas if you put average drivers in a 458 and a 488, the 488 will run rings around the 458 (and the 458 would need a far superior driver to compete with the average driver in the 488).
But for those of us who can’t get to the track that often, the sound of the 458 makes it an eternal winner. And I have an 812 and while it’s wonderful too, I would take the 458 over the 488.
488 GTBs are absolutely sick beautiful!!! Loved them when they came out- So did my SO Image Unavailable, Please Login
Unfortunately 458, 812, and F12 are the only Ferraris that i am interested in, for the sound alone, lets no forget why we buy supercar, its not about the horse power, its the sound of it and how we get there. If we are talking about turbo, driving dynamics, chassis, Mclaren is ahead of Ferrari, cheaper too. Carbon chassis, sharper steering, even faster acceleration and cornering, 720s is at 488 price and drive much better, also, actually Mclaren has better F1 cars than Ferrari most of the time, watch Schumacher documentary on netflix. I was choosing between a 458 and 720s, ultimately bought the 458, feel more special, 488 is not even in the radar.
Current Ferraris are just as fast as what McLaren offers, if not faster. Also, Ferrari has 16 WCC compared to Mc:aren's 8; they are not even close!
What flavor is that Ferrari Kool-Aid you are enjoying? Pininfarina? Cavallino? Cuz, you took a long, deep drink from that jug.
Exactly. We can barely use these cars at speed even on track. So how the cars look and sound, and the reaction you get from others, are definitely huge factors.
