Broccoli will depreciate at twice the rate of the apple 458. Check out the prices on three year old AMG or other high end Mercedes if you need convincing. Taz Terry Phillips
Well, put THAT way... were I to sign the docs for a 458 vs. a Broccoli car (I have a 2008 Broccoli E350 as well as an Apple 328 GTS so know the vegetables of which I type).... I would totally agree. And if ONLY TWO cars were available to buy... period... the 458 would win with applause, aplomb, and silly gyrations. ps - I run Linux and HATE broccoli
Yeah but they'll make it up on maintenance costs. No, really.... 599GTB They're getting to be such a bargain, and so much more car. Otherwise, Italia of course.
Jedi- Put enough cheese sauce on anything and it tastes good, including broccoli. Only thing I have found that does not fit that rule is Brussell Sprouts. Yucko. Spherical weeds. Wife's GL 550 has depreciated like a rock. Will keep it for a long time to amortize the costs. Taz Terry Phillips
Broccoli bloats me, so I'm going with the big Apple. Now to just find the right fruit market, one with a big enough basket for everyone.
I figure if someone has enough money to afford apples, they most certainly can buy some broccoli to go with it.
Thought this defies ALL logic, I'm laughing my ASS OFF!!!! Spherical weeds.... can't wait to spring that on my wife next time it comes up at dinner!!! Jedi
458 Without a Doubt, no offense but the SLS is not nearly as attractive as I personally thought it would be.
The SLR was the most underwhelming car I have ever driven, relative to the expectations I had. It was heavy, cumbersome, unexciting and it honestly felt no different to an AMG SL from a dynamic point of view. I think the new Gullwing simply misses the mark. It is another heavy, overpowered pseudo sports car. The design tried too hard to evoke the original 300SL and it just looks a like a kit car version of the original. Exotic cars need to be light, nimble and stunningly beautiful. The SLS is none of these, and the 458 is perhaps 1.5 of these
I agree. With the SLR, Mercedes tried to make a "new" Gullwing. The SLS is trying to be a "retro" Gullwing. My advice to Mercedes would be to simply design something new, dropping the Gullwing theme altogether. Considering how good-looking most of their new products are (S-class, CL, new E-class coupe), I'm sure they would come up with something great.
I was kind of in the same dilemma until i attended the Frankfurt Motor Show last month and got some seat time in both cars (obviously idle). The SLS's gullwing feature is probably the most exciting aspect of this new vehicle, and is the reason behind all the hype. The engine is the same old 6.3 V8, wheels are the same as just about every other AMG vehicle, and the interior is dull. An hour later I was at the Ferrari section getting some seat time in both 458s on display. One was a "standard" 458 with standard seats, wheels, plain interior etc., while the other was a "sportier" version with sport seats, upgraded wheels, and full carbon fiber interior. Both were incredible! The way the dashboard is created around the driver vs. driver and passenger as in pervious models is amazing. All functions are easy to reach and view, and the steering wheel felt like it was taken out of Massa's car! Overall, 458 beats out the SLS by far.
For me shouldn't the SLS be compared with the California rather than the 458. It's front engined and closer on price and possibly performance to the California
