I am researching and looking for my first Ferrari . I found a 2012 458 coupe locally with under 9000 miles and decided to take a look at it today at a local used car dealership . Really odd right there having this car in their inventory but they said the owner bought it to play around with and then sell it . The car was not at the location but after talking to the salesman he said there was a slight noise coming from the rear differential on turns . They took it to have it checked out at a local Ferrari repair shop that came up with a bearing noise in the differential that would cost approx. 4k to fix. He also said this was a known concern .
I'm a service technician at a domestic dealership but my question is this -- is this a known concern and why would this vehicle have this problem at this mileage ?
Personally , I'm staying clear of this trainwreck but the whole set of circumstances piqued my interest .
