    Hi,

I noticed my 458 making the "Tok Tok" sound in rear passenger side somewhere from the wheel area. It pretty much happen most of the time when I take off and drive slowly. Anyone know what that could be? Is it normal?
I did not get any warning light at all. The audio clip you can hear it happens at 5, 15 and 16 seconds. Most of the time it does "Tok Tok" two times like you hear in 15 and 16 seconds. I tried to upload the audio clip but not not allow with audio format. I uploaded it to One Drive and shared the link below so you can listen. If anyone know how to upload audio in here?

Are you sure it's coming from the wheel? Do you have CF seats? The belt buckle in my car will clank against the back of the CF seat. If you don't hear it with a passenger (or when you buckle the passenger belt) then that may be your culprit.

I am sure it is coming from rear right passenger side (But not sure exactly where it is) as the audio clip was recording when I stand like 100 feet away from the car. It pretty much happens every time when the car is warm up.

    Thanks.

Sounds like the brake pads. Like the pads are not seated 100% and when the brake piston hits it. It clicks.

Wow... Can you elaborate why is that? Something broken or serious causing this or need for service? and is this need to do asap?

    Hi Mfreak,
I had a similar issue, despite not the same, and mine was definitely driver's side, but worth a try: in my case, and I have the CF sport seats, it was loose seat fixing bolts. The seat was "tok-tok-ing" sometimes (on some right corners) but it was impossible for me to feel anything with my butt.
I hope it helps, I don't think it applies to other types of seats.

I have heard that it could be the bearings in the hubs from standing and the entire hub then needs replacing you cannot pull the bearings only. Apparently it can happen if the car stands. It damages the bearings from the constant load and no movement and this causes a tick tock noise when the weight of the car shifts. I was talking to the dealer when I picked up my car as they were replacing hubs on another 458 that had been standing and it caused this problem.

Had a Ferrari tech to listen and ride with me. He said could be the one of the following.

    1. Brake Shoe not sitting properly when there is load (Car in gear when take off) it make the tak sound
    2. Drive shaft
    3. Bearing Hub
    4. Could be the disc rotor assembly, brake pad loose as he said there is some play on the brake pad area. Need to disassembly the rear driver side brake, disc rotor, hub everywhere to check (Where the tak sound coming from) to tighten everything up.

But he said there is no guarantee this will go away after trying all above. Item 1, 3 and 4 are all in the rear passenger brake/wheel parts area as far as i understand but where is the item 2 drive shaft at?

I have very similar problem. Dealer said it’s related to drive shaft. I had it cleaned before and it came back again. Dealer said it will not be solved permanently. Not sure if it is true or not. It’s very announcing. It’s the ticking or toking sound when I accelerate by pressing accelerate.

Any good idea or solution would be appreciated
