Going to spend more time with it tomorrow. Pix after I get some sleep!! Image Unavailable, Please Login
I was so upset today when they fired it up. I thought I had my camera recording from directly behind it when they blew the exhaust out. Of course, it wasn't...hopefully I'll get a chance tomorrow!
There were a few photographers who 'caught me' when we drove off. I will try to get those pix in the next couple days! All I have to say to all those waiting for the skinny on this car is, yes it is a bummer there will be no manual but trust me you will live!!!! The Tranny is not like the California (feel) it is very sporty! More to come! Cheers
Most of the guys here have been soaking up images and everything else about the new 458 for many months. Now that she has seen it live and in living color; what does the lady think of the latest 'high fashion' design from the House of Maranello? Thanks CH
I was offered a quick lap in the 458 so my impression is somewhat limited. But I will give you my experience regarding its performance. The one thing I was most curious about on the Italia was how would the "Cali (Dual Clutch) Trans" feel in the 458? Well, unlike the Cali the 458 is raw, the shifts would snap you back into the seat and the power was endless. The sound was Scud like and down shifts were accompanied with a throttle blip and bark from the exhaust. Ferrari has done a great job with this car!!
I got to briefly see her start up and drive and absolutely loved the sound. I wish I would have been around to get the pics of you, Stackhouse! I think the wife and I were karting at the time. There are so many interesting things about the car. I was lucky enough to get a lot of good pictures of her on Friday when it wasn't very busy. I had a hard time leaving her! I'll post some of the pics in the picture thread later.
I love the 458 interior!! The best to date IMO! Same goes for the rest of the car I guess!! Ferrari are on a winner with the 458.
The car is a winner!! Interior is very spacious and most important I can fit (6'2) with room to spare, without removing the hat!!
Have you owned or driven a 430? If so, how does the leg room compare? I find my 430 cramped, and I'm also 6'2. Thanks man
I cant say that the 430 is cramped for me at 62, aside from an odd bend in the knee resulting in an ache or two, it is not too bad but my experience is limited to weekend runs in the canyons not long distance driving. The difference between the two cars in not epic, but it is noticeable. The 458s interior is very ergonomic and functional! There was a noticeable difference in the drivers space, giving the feeling that I could really stretch out in the car. As I said before, the hat did not have to come off! Matter o Fact there was significant space above my head to fit a few more gallons of Hat! The seats are very comfortable! You slide right in with a good deal of support but not so much to give you the feeling of being Cramped. I did not spend enough time in the car to give a long term impression but from what little time I did have in the car it was clearly a step forward in comfort and usability! Just my .02
Excellent! A big man like you wearing a 12 gallon hat and you STILL fit! Impressive to say the least!
