Hi there - I purchased my 458 a bit less than a month ago CPO from a dealer. It has a clean carfax and I did inspect paint for thickness etc prior to purchase. I did not however examine one area and upon getting estimates for PPF they noticed the air intakes on the driver and passenger sides appear to have been repainted or bondo’d or something.

I wanted to see if anyone else has seen or experienced this as a factory paint flaw?

    Mr. Jason:

I have a similar issue on my (new to me) 2013 458.
Local car, impeccable service records, superb condition.
The driver side intake has a unique wear pattern just before the grill.
Passenger side also shown for comparison.
The black 1/4 inch (plastic? paint?) strip is wearing off on mine.

It looks like yours might have been touched up?

Not sure. Not overly concerned, but looking for answers.

Wow, that does look similar to mine. I too am not overly concerned but just wondering why maybe it was repainted if that’s the case.

Or perhaps this is just how they came from the factory?!

My all black 488 had a some really nice gold metallic flakes in the paint; they caught the light really well.

Too bad I didn't order a gold metallic flake paint job, like apparently the person whose car went through the paint booth just prior to mine had.

    :)

    Welcome to Italian cars.

You mean you ended up with Nero Stellato for free? Dang, I had to pay through the nose - and the paint job was still half assed:D

Not on this level. Have you ever seen a Mazda Soul Red Crystal paint job? Painted by robots and absolutely stunning finish off the line.

Some common DDs have excellent paint if you take a close look and ignore the badge.
