458 Right hand dash screen

Either one of these scenarios is probably my case. Professional is talking to Rod at FAI to see what they can do since they rebuilt & reflashed cluster after the brake recall when it crashed. This has been a 2 yr saga. If I get a new cluster what are the chances that it will behave in the same manner? I am hoping that maybe we can get a working(used) cluster in exchange for mine so I'm not down so long now that snow has melted. What do you think? Wonder if Dan (NGSC) has any clusters laying around? or maybe try a salvage co.

 

That's still a little odd. Is your Apple car play the GR external module? They usually don't require cluster flashes? Any any rate, if you decide that you need a new cluster, let me know. I could get you a new one for way cheaper than the dealer.

 

I don’t know what module installer used for car play. He did send cluster out for video mods somewhere in FL then reinstalled it. Then it got trashed by brake recall software upgrade. Then to FAI in Costa Mesa for rebuild. Then back in car. Worked for short while then nothing. Nit to United. Back together now work for 20 min the black screen. Works again when first starting then out in 20 min. Waiting to see what Rod at FAI says. I’m sick of it. Owned car 11/2 years. 8 mos sits at shop. That is a kind offer. I’ll let you know. Would it help you to understand the issues if you talked to Josh at the installation shop? Maybe you could help us troubleshoot this further. Thx for your interest and help.

 

Sure, do you want me to call him? Or would they like to call me? BTW, when you say that the screen goes black, does it not show the car's data either (like the speedometer, ect)?

 

When it is working for the 20 min or so, it shows everything. When it goes white, then black, it does not show car data speedometer, digital speeds, instruments radio info, apple car play maps cameras etc. The sound still comes through on whatever was the last station playing. I am reaching out to him now to see if he can answer any questions. He talks pretty fast so I don't always understand the technicalities that he is dealing with. HE is a very nice guy and wants to get this problem cleared up as much as I do. His name is Josh Landau. Really appreciate your help. I'll send the contact info in PM. Reviving this thread. My '15 Speciale has the right screen displaying the digital speedometer and cannot be changed. Has anyone successfully had this repaired without having to replace the guage cluster/pinnacle? If so, what was repaired, who did it, and what was the cost?

If the entire guage cluster needs to be replaced, can a used unit from another yr be used? I have a cluster from a 2012 Italia i previously owned that was replaced for the right screen going black altogether. I still have that cluster when it was replaced with a new unit.

 

The software in the Speciale screen is different and a 2012 Italia cluster will not be compatible. Either get a used working cluster from another Speciale (which is hard to find) or order a new one from Ferrari. You will need the SD3 tool to version code the replacement cluster to the new vehicle.

 

Fred, is the hard drive contained within the NIT/head unit (mine appears to be part #286987)? Just want to be sure which part(s) need to be sent (pic of what I believe needs to come out of the car). I plan to send mine to China. Specifically...
