As far as I have heard: - 600 PS (592 bhp) from uprated 4,5l V8 - 130 kg weight reduction (1250kg dry weight) - carbon fiber wheels and roof, carbon fiber interior with some elements from Enzo successor, active brake cooling as on F12 - 0-100km/h in 3,0s, 0-200km/h in 8,9s, Fiorano laptime 1:22,5s - price in Germany - 244.000,00 EUR - to be revealed in Frankfurt, September 2013 Anyone can confirm ?
244.000 Euro with or without VAT? 130 kg is a serious weight reduction and I guess if it is true, it can be achieved by removing A/C and stereo which weight approx. 35-40 kg. We will have to wait little longer for actual data..
I doubt if anyone can literally "confirm" these parameters. But they look plausible and achievable. The hp figure seems within reach via better breathing and ECU mapping. Such numbers are available right now with aftermarket tuners. Similarly the weight reduction seems achievable with some obvious elements such as CF seats, no carpets, and some sound insulation removal. The active brake cooling suggests a visible front end intake redesign of some kind. Assuming the 244K EUR is before VAT, this price suggests a mark up from the base coupe of about $80K US. All of the above is in keeping with the tradition established by the CS and Scuderia.
For the VAT of 19%, that would be 205,000 EUR or $262,000 US, only about 30K more than the base coupe?
The F1 team needs to get it's act together so they can make a 17M version. $314K USD is one heck of a high price. It better perform like crazy. You're looking at a very well optioned Spider for that money.
458 Italia is 194.000,00 EUR incl. VAT in Germany, if I remember correctly. So the new Scud would be 50k EUR more than the coupe.
IMHO - The most important issue is how many are they gonna make Will it be limited like the CS or big numbers like the Scuderia
I strongly doubt they will ever make a 17M version, as the number 17 is considered to be an unlucky number in Italian culture. Anyway, let's hope the F1 team indeed gets it's act together soon...
Maybe I am missing something but isnt Alonso leading the Championship with just 7 races remaining? I would have thought they had things pretty much together?
You are completely right regarding the Drivers' Standings. However, the 16M(ondiali) referred to the 16th F1 World Constructors' Championship won in 2008. As you will remember, Felipe lost the Drivers' Championship in the last few metres of the last race to Hamilton that year. So, with just 7 races remaining, there remains a bit of work to do in order to clinch that 17th Constructors' Title.
Sorry, but that was the base price incl. tax BEFORE the 2012 price hike. About 5 % higher now... Best, Ulli
That would make the reported difference between the Scuderia version and base coupe around 40K EUR including VAT. This would translate to about $43K US at the current exchange and without VAT. This seems in line with past practice.
A price in stated Euro's always includes VAT.It's consider the hidden tax unlike sales tax .VAT runs 21% and yes it's higher for over hp 5 euro per hp or liter motor what they call gas guzzler add I believe 4% more. The hp tax is a yearly tax.If you buy it used there is no VAT.If you want to bring it to the USA there is a 2.5% import fee
IMO They will stick to the double clutch - Never seen Ferrari commit to a whole new transmission just to sell a few limited edition cars of the same series
I guess some of us still remember the Schumacher years of old when the drivers championship would have already been decided.
I hope the 2014 "scud" version gets a whole new front design. I really dislike that thing with functional mustaches hanging in the front. I previously owned a few V8 Fcars, never been fan of their looks except the side view of a 430 spider. I love the brand and historic background, and would love to order an 458 spider with proper options. I love the 355 like rear look with the top closed and CF rear bumper. It is a very complete car. Until Ferrari makes a new one, 458 is the most advanced mid engine V8 car without any questions. That being said, it's not the best looking one in the group, especially the coupe IMHO..(I sold my '07 grigio telesto LP640 about 11 months ago, still stuck with the aura of that thing, maybe) I know it's subjective but am I the only one who respect the car's abilities yet dislike many of the exterior design features? Is it because I do not own one yet ? Do we expect something spectacular with the upcoming version?
cankars, You may not be the only one, but you are definitely in the minority. The 458 has been almost universally praised for most if not all of its design characteristics. Some have gone so far as calling it the most beautiful Ferrari in many, many years, but certainly the most beautiful modern car, as it is compared to other modern cars. So for what it is worth, your eye is somewhat unique to you, which is a good thing, that's why everything doesn't look the same
