    Hi everyone,

Been a lurker for a bit of a while and have a need to post now which I wish was on better circumstances. I have a concern on our 458 spider.

History of the car, owned for about a year. Bought from a private dealer but had all the ferrari history, warranty etc. and ticked boxes. On the higher side of mileage as previous owner did a lot of motorway driving, around 42000 miles. Had the car serviced and warranty applied. Took her on a 3000 mile road trip around Europe with no issues.

Recently I have noticed that if I accelerate in the lower gears to redline say 1st to top of 3rd, there seems to be a haze of smoke, I cannot work out if its black or blue. In the higher gears I cannot see anything although obviously carrying a lot more speed. Has anyone experienced anything like this?

I always let the car warm up fully and take precautions to ensure I look after her to the best of my ability.

I have started monitoring that now so I will keep an eye on it over the next few weeks provided I can find decent enough weather to drive in. My main concern is around the ferrari warranty, its coming up for renewal and how will ferrari determine if there actually is an issue as from previous experience they aren't very accommodating in diagnosis.

Well it's not a turbo engine so at least it's not a failed turbo. I would start with the easy things. Remove the plugs, see if they look ok, get a borescope in the cylinders, and check for compression. Also clean the valve throttle body while you are at it. Next are injectors.

I d have someone drive behind you and video, that way you can determine the volume of smoke and the color.
