Hello all! I own a 458 Speciale, 15.000 km, zero issues so far apart from the handbrake ECU that had to be replaced. Lately I have an issue with my A/C, after driving the car, when I stop it at idle and turn the A/C off it drops the revs so hard that half of the times it kills the engine. Everything works perfectly, but this happens and it’s a bit annoying. Ferrari service tried new MAF sensors, didn’t solve it. They want to fit a new ECU, which is costly and I want to make sure I cover all the options. Anyone here had such an issue? It only happens if I drive it. If I just turn on the car and don’t move, it won’t happen. Thanks in advance!
Never turn off the AC Is this only when the car is fully warmed up or also when it's only been running for a few minutes? How old is the battery?
Did you check all vacuum lines for leaks, maybe one has become loose or clogged. Be sure to check the vacuum tank as well, maybe it is damaged. If you find issues in the vacuum lines, take out all spark plugs and make sure none are fouled. Doubtful the ECU has anything to do with it (should be codes if that was a problem).
Happened a couple times to me. Not every time I've turned off the AC, but enough where I'm ready to restart the car when I do it. I just accept it as an Italian quirk and try not to do it very often. I have a feeling that finding the gremlin would be far more difficult than just not turning off the AC unless I really have to.
Have you tried to ECU relearn procedure by disconnecting the battery and following the procedure and the owner's manual with the AC off
Happened multi times to my Italia. Went to a great independent shop. No big bills. New battery solved the problem. Read about our " new alternators" regarding how they work, what they don't do, why they were designed this way etc.
