I'm just glad I don't care what the price of a Speciale is. It does appear the asking price of 16Ms is on the rise..

CS, Scuds, and Speciales, are all way over MSRP here in canada.
3 yrs ago I missed out on a Nero Daytona scud for $179,000 CAD. I haven't seen one for sale in the last 6 months for less than $280,000 CAD.
The cheapest Speciale that was for sale recently in Canada was asking price $478,000 CAD. Most have been asking $400,000 USD and up.
Based on today's exchange, that's $487,000 CAD. Well over 100k above average MSRP.
The Alberta economy is down due to oil prices, but the sale of high end exotics here is through the roof. Collectible cars are a strange market!

Even if the performance figures say something completely different (and also my personal perception) I leave you your believe regarding the differences... ;)

Wishful thinking or completely different markets (I dare to say wishful thinking).

Reality in Switzerland: At my dealer in the client's order a CS for CHF 265k without ONE serious inquiry over the last nine months. But hope dies last...

At the moment 15 Scuderias on the web, prices in the average decreasing, no one is near the MSRP. I wish you much pleasure while selling...

At the moment 7 Speciales on the web, the supply increases, prices are falling (between CHF 285k und 339k). Speculators, it's your time, maybe it gets better again... (the 488 Scuderia is still so far away).

No math, no wishful thinking, just watching the market.

The only thing about CS is the sound. IMO, don't pay too much for it, because if you modify 458, then it sounds much much louder than stock CS and screams. If you modify CS, it will sound as loud as modified 458, but lack of scream.

that is a high msrp car and a 2014. 15 in right color and stripe will sell at our slightly above $400k regardless of their msrp

You are wrong with regard to the market in the US, UK and large parts of the EU with regard to where CS's are trading. So, even though you didn't state, we all now know you meant the Swiss market and not the other markets (obviously you are not watching them).

To help correct your statement (or at least educate where the US market is, especially since you commented on Ron's post which is clearly a US car), here are some facts, not wishful thinking. We have seen 4 cars sell in the past 4 months in the US for $260-300k in the US (documented, at auction if you are going to say wishful thinking - you can look them up, I'm not going to do it for you). All stickered for $200k range. There was a sale for $400kUSD in Europe last week (white one, I believe in Germany). There was a similar high sale in the US *we are told* but its not documented (so I won't count that one). And, a car with an asking price of $290k sold this week. Again, I won't count that one, but its not likely the seller suddenly said "ah heck, I'll take $190k, that's close enough - it would have to be $190k to be under sticker). And, to continue to be fair, I do not have a single documented sale of a CS under sticker this year in the US. (there could have been, but no one has shared it with some of us that track the market. There is a salvage title car that has traded hands, but that hardly qualifies for this discussion).

There are currently 5 CS for sale in the US. All are at MSRP or more asking price. Several recent documented sales are above MSRP. Btw, its even "worse" in the UK (you should check it).

No Doubt! Over the years I've been jealous of their prices on used Ferrari's many times. The prices there act more like typical used cars and not like the used Ferrari market in the US. And, of course, the new Ferrari market is very different too...there are inherent premiums for the newer models in the US paid or earned one way or another. Those - we are told - are not the norm in many other markets including the CH market.

Your right its only 25K over MSRP. The 380 MSRP is most defiantly a misprint. AND its over optioned (most cars never get their options back in full when spec'ed like that AND its a 2014)

    Care to try again?

NO QUESTION - choose the Speciale. Its the last NA car and the most powerful NA 8 cylinder that Ferrari has ever produced. It is limited in its production (compared to a 488) and it has a 9,000 RPM screaming engine! The 488 will be "just another production Ferrari" in 10 years. The Speciale will be, well, Special.

Don't even think twice about this one.

I had the pleasure of owning both a 12 Italia and a Speciale and driving both hard...there was a huge difference.

    Let me jump in here...

The street DRIVING EXPERIENCE between the regular 360 and the CS is a much bigger gap than the 458 Italia and Speciale. A LOT bigger. Let me explain - just to name a few items.

The 360 has steel rotors, the CS carbon. The 360 had a much slower shift time, CS much better. Noise? Totally different - both inside and out. The Italia and Speciale can both be ordered to have similar seats, both have carbon rotors, both are close in shift times (don't know exact number) and so on.

BUT......while tooling about town in a CS offers a really big difference over the 360, the Speciale comes alive on the track. It is here that the car shines. The Side Slip Angle alone is enough for the car to feel like a whole new car. The refinements not seen when pushed hard make the Speciale really an epic car. But while driving about as a daily driver, the Speciale is *more* like the Italia than the CS is like the 360.

Thank you arizonaitalian, it seems I have to correct myself on "completely different markets".

IMO also the difference between a F430 and a Scuderia is extreme, much more extreme than between the Speciale and the Italia.
But please let me emphasize the following, the Speciale is THE perfect V8 NA car, I love it. The "problem" is, the 458 Italia is unfortunately also convincingly good. The Italia is closer to the Speciale than the Modena or the F430 are to their lightweight versions, the Speciale is not bad, the Italia is extremely good.

A few months ago I was in the market for a used Speciale. I decided against this car, all offered Speciales were very disappointing. A lot of money for "very simple equipped" cars, not one pearl was available, the premium over a great Italia not worth. I'm not a speculator...

funny.... I have the same quesstion
I am looking to get rid of the scuderia for either a 488 or specaile..... I think everyone realizes that the speciale will hold its value and is a very special car. HOWEVER the 488 is soooooooo fast and can do everything.... Date night car with wifey, Track car , and just .......

getting back to the point of value of the speciale ....
    ... I think the
2014 are in the 350k to 375k range and the
    2015 are 375k to 400k ish

Can't disagree with anything you said here.

But get the Speciale and put an epic sound system in it for date night to overcome the road noise. Then you get the best of both worlds. Wife in the car? Turn on the tunes. Alone? Leave it off and listen to the Enzo Ferrari soundtrack.

I agree... But would add that there is still about a 10% to 15% "edginess" factor of the Speciale over the Italia... The harder you push, the more you feel it. The dynamics of the Speciale are just so IMMEDIATE... When I get out of the Special and back into an Italia, the Italia feels less on edge, less immediate, and quite honestly more comfortable. While driving the Speciale, you just feel like you're plugged into an electrical socket and I think that's a big part of what makes it so SPECIALE! :) Driving the Speciale, for me, is an undeniably addictive, energized experience that I've never felt in ANY other car before this - and I've driven almost all of them including the Enzo, all late model F-cars, all late model Lambos, all P-cars, etc. NOTE: I have NOT driven the LaF, and it would be very interesting to feel the dynamics of that car.
