First of all, Pininfarina was also part of the design process of the Speciale. Secondly, the CS is primitive compared to the Speciale. It probably makes less than half the downforce of the new model.

Those winglets and whatever are for performance, not looks. THAT is the purpose.

If you want to criticize lot's of aero widgets, then go tear apart the Mega Mac P1. It has more do-dad's festooned on it than a Christmas tree... and everyone fawns over it.

Please explain how you know this? I have tracked the 458 on many occasions and while I feel the winglets down force % is not drastic, it adds to the whole DF process. As for the rest of your "scoops" comment, I am all ears on this one because these "scoops" as you call them are a big deal if we're talking about the same thing so please enlighten me, you have my attention. :)

Ahhhhhh, Christmas, maybe Santa will bring me a 458 Speciale. I better call the big guy in the rosso corsa suit with a beige leather belt and put my order in now.

I prefer a beige or cuoio interior as well, but his belt isn't beige:

I'm good with it - like the looks - and my guess is Maranello has the aero figgered out. Looking forward to driving one.

I think that this car could enter into the Aventador territory. In fact if you look at the weight/power ratio and if you consider the official declared performances and the possibility that as usual, the first reports, will describe even better numbers (the same happened several times with the 458)..then you can imagine a sub 3 sec. for 0-100 km/h and sub 9 sec. for 0-200 km/h .The 458 too, was much faster than declared and why this could not happen again?now all you I think have quite a big respect for the Aventador right? Even on race tracks ..not only on straight race..Now can you imagine what a similar weight/hp ratio and a slimmer car (around 400 lbs less) could deliver in the right hands on race tracks? I am really thinking that for several reasons..(including the problem to leave enought room when will be the time to create even a faster successor of the 458 ) the real performances of the speciale will be more radical than declared. But to know this we have to wait several months...Unluky.
Now by my personal experience let me say that a real CS/Scuderia/Speciale enthusiast will order this kind of cars and wait 6 years for the successor. So the arrival in about 2,5 years of the 458 successor in this case, simply doesn't exist as a real problem .But this happens in my area and so of course is not the "law"..
At the end...after few days of readings/thoughts/speculations..let me say (and I apologise for this) that I feel really really exited and can't wait to see her by person. It will happen soon..:)

Not sure if you really want to understate if you're being pushed performance-wise by a fax machine. Don't tell me McLaren is not relevant, it is...

McLaren is of course relevant but this car is not in my radar..And will never be.Too different from my view of what a supercar should be.My dreams are not going to British or even German direction this time..Sorry.

    I'm clawing to get one.

There are no allocations and dealers don't know how many will be made even.

For those that have signed up, is that nothing more than the interest list or are you being told you'll get one of the first X?

I'm willing to sell my soul, or my cars, to get one of the first 5 from a dealership.

CF mirrors could be an option?

Center lug wheels would be cool (like GT3).

I suspect ferrari will make several items optional in an attempt to keep the base price close to $300,000 in the US (like CF diffuser, to name one).

    Hopefully you can drive a Lambo bettter than Adrian who crashed his into the wall on the warm up lap! ;}

But to my mind the little winglet on the rocker panel is there for just looks, like a girl with a tattoo on her backside--it doesnt make her any sexier. She thinks is does but in ten years she will realise how stupid it is and get it lasered off. What mother wants their child to see a tramp stamp above her behind.

But look these cars--the CS, Scud, Speciale-- are for making Ferrari money and for creating some excitement at the end of a models life.

If you like it...great. Buy it.

The Speciale is growing on me day by day... it looks as if the sharpness and aggressive cues are derived from the FXX and the Zonda 760R. If the styles look good on those cars, it will hopefully grow well on the Speciale.
I look forward to the invitational preview on the 4th September'13.

However, I don't like them! I prefer to be 0,1 second slower in Fiorano... ;)
IMO the most trashy detail at the Speciale - the rest convinced me - I'm vulnerable...

Carbon mirrors came standard on the CS & the Scuderia...

The ones on the challenge car would def look better.

+1. I'm sure anything is possible with enough cash. To those that complain that these items were standard on the scud, keep in mind that not everyone wants them. I would rather have the option to have CF in some areas and keep the base price down. If I end up getting one (deposit is down), I may want to keep the options to a minimum to save some $$$.
