As I hardly doubt Ferrari will manage to get the F1-title it will for sure not be called 17M Let's see what they come up with - for the track the Spider is definitely not stiff enough...
I worry what they will do visually to the especial. I don't think the goofy hood or stripes will go over well with the t-top and engine cover. Perhaps see thru cover and new color for manifolds? That would look good.
When is/was the replacement due? The Speciale was a flop design-wise IMO so I don't have high hopes for the Spider tbh.
Fantastic, it will no doubt p*ss off a number of 458 Speciale Coupe buyers though, who didn't expect one
Hmmm I think the 16M is a pretty good car by all accounts no ? TopGear review of Scud 16M - "most exciting Ferrari ever" - FerrariChat.com
There are many more Scud owners that 16M ... so why should more weighting be given to 16M owners? The 16M was the most exciting car then but Scuderia was still the better performer IMHO for all Ferrari's intents and purposes.
Doubt it will piss anyone off. If any Speciale buyers weren't expecting a Spider version to follow they should be pissed off at themselves for being so naive.
I will be taking delivery of my Speciale after the 26th But I also have an option on the spider speciale(whenever it is produced)
I was expecting 458 replacement to be revealed Frankfurt 2015. If spider deliveries are Q2, is it safe to say replacement will be in 2016? Means the 458 will have 7 model years?
IMO The speciale spider will be announced Frankfurt 2014 with deliveries soon after The 458M should be no later than Geneva March 2015 with deliveries later that year
The 360 Modena was introduced in the fall of 1999, the F430 was introduced in the fall of 2004, and the 458 Italia was introduced in the fall of 2009. Hence, I think that it's more likely the 458 replacement will be introduced at a fall auto show. That would probably be the 2015 Frankfurt show. I wouldn't expect to see a "mass-produced" Ferrari debuting at Geneva. That venue is more suited to a supercar like the Enzo or La Ferrari. However, that being said, this is Ferrari, and they can be very inscrutable! Fred
There won't be another supercar for many, many years so of course Ferrari will continue to debut "mass-produced" cars at Geneva in the meantime.
Performance is not the only thing that makes a great road car. I imagine these cars spend at least 99% of their time on the road. If it was all about performance--the Mp4-12c would have done much better. BTW, they made only 499 16Ms...so of course there are less owners of these than scuds. I guess Ferrari decided they were special enough to use them to celebrate 16 titles...
You seem to be the first one to know this. Any others signs from Ferrari that this is really happening? How do you know?
Yep indeed that's why everybody thought there would be no 458 Speciale Spider & if you think it is not relevant look also at the value of the 599 GTO vs the 599 convertible in the recent Monaco auctions, no contest ....
[ame=http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QyWBkFXj2QQ]RM Auctions - Monaco 2014 (Ferrari 599 GTO) - YouTube[/ame] Coupe is 599 GTO is circa half price of the 599 Aperto ... that's why it is not funny if you have a coupe, just like the 16M has a significant premium to the SCUD
