So I am still making my mind upon which one should I get... It will be my first Ferrari, but I really want to use it as a daily driver AND as a car to take trips with. I know what the logical answer is - F12, since all of her GT qualities + trunk space(which stands high in my priority list.) However, I'm loving the new 458S and will probably go for it. Biggest reason for choosing the 458 Speciale is the fact I actually dreamt the car before it was even anounced. P.S. I see how having both fits my needs.
I've debated this a bit in my head recently. 458S will be a very sharp scalpel, maybe too sharp as a DD. Seems that the aero/air dams alone make it more of a DD hassle even with a suspension lifter (at least compared to the Italia - though I have no ground clearance differential info. b/w the 2 models). F12 has to be a better DD than the 458S. Conversely, get a 458 Italia as a DD. I think I might just keep my 13 458 as my DD until more is known about the 458S.Personally I'm not a fan of the F12 looks compared to the 458. My only issue will be if I'm locked out of a 458S (order wise) by the time there is some real world testing/owner feedback on the car.
Same as me bro. Thanks for the suggestion about the 458 DD, but really I prefer getting a F12 over an Italia - engine wise, luggage wise. Only down side is the looks, but yet again Italia seems kinda old to me. Oh, by the way, guys, anyone of you here know any good locations that fit the following description? Currently looking for a house. -Lake, high mountains(snow) with good roads driving through the mountains. Maybe a big city near by. Something like Switz, Austria...maybe. Not familiar with the locations. Thanks a bunch
Youre able to a get slot for the 458s and never bought a ferrari before? The dealership is giving that to you?
From the pics, the 458S has a much smaller trunk than the 458 which is smaller than the F12. If you need trunk space it's the F12. Best
I suggest a LaFerrari with a roof mounted cargo carrier, that would fit all of your needs. Brand new on the street, mid mounted V12 with cargo space for trips.
He said the Italia seems kinda old to him, so the antique F40 definitely won't do it. It might be a good bet that the F40 is older them him
People do it but in IMHO a Ferrari is not a great daily driver. It attracts to much attention. If i were going to DD a Ferrari I would do a 599. Big trunk great performance and less than 200k. My 599 in black attracted much less attention than my 458 in black.
FWIW there is much consternation over at the f12 forum on an errant Motor Trend comparison test which placed the f12 last behind the Corvette and 911C4.. Here are the staff commentaries. 2013 Best Driver's Car Aftermath - Ranking the Chevrolet Corvette Z51, Ferrari F12 and Porsche 911 4S - Motor Trend I don't really trust MT expertise on this kind of thing and am always alert to bias, but what is interesting is that several of the staffers refer to the superiority of the 458 in their sum up comments.
I have to give some credence to MT for they have picked the 458 as the best handling car in the past. I have driven a number of cars they have critiqued on the track and I cant find too much fault with their previous comments of the Mustang, Scuderia, BMW M3 etc.
If I had to put money down, I would put it on a variant example of an F12 (an owner car). Ferrari should have provided a car; then you would know it is set up right, notwithstanding all of the noise about "ringers." Getting an owner car of unknown history puts a certain randomness into it. Couple thiswith a Motor trend urge to be different and ... No one else has complained about the chassis that I know of, and we know that the f12 is 2 seconds faster than the 458 on the tight, technical Fiorano circuit.
Nobody who owns both a Porsche and a Ferrari should be surprised to learn that the Porsche is faster (apples to apples, of course). Then, again, we don't necessarily buy cars based upon which one is the fastest, so why get your panties in a bunch when someone points this out anyway?
