I'm about to spec my 458 spider, there's no configurator yet, and I've not yet had anything from my dealer yet. Anyone aware of any cool options? Not to complain about an early allocation :) but I'm sure there must be some special options on this car.

how are you going to spec the car if the dealer doesn't know the options list?

Sounds like a trip to Italy might be required.

:) Dealer is on the case with FNA etc, but I figured those in the know here would be ahead of me. I figure that no-roof will really sort the 458 out and in particular remove the slightly too refined feel of the coupe.

No, you won’t get any information yet .the only place to get it is in Maranello.

I am not sure why you couldn't get it done at the dealer. Mine is in and configured. I don't think I see anything that isn't normally available but I wasn't there when they were checking the boxes. Maybe SATR (Antenna SDRS)? That and maybe the
    CIDL
    CARBON FIBER DRIVER ZONE+
    CILR
    CARBON FIBRE CENTRAL BRID

But I think that's on the coupe too. I'll ask. They said I can add to it anytime before January and it will probably get put in there.

Thanks - I figure that we can look at what is on modis, but I always find the codes and descriptions are often confusing and sometimes have conflicts which are hard to understand.

Now to decide what color. Time for a change from white I think.

You and me both bud. I'm still pissed that my 2011 458 didn't come with auto folding mirrors because they made it into an option unlike my 2010 model. I notice it's STILL an option. From the jibberish that's the option checklist though how could I tell? I pity those putting together the new 991, Porsche is lunatics at this. "Options include: Seats, windows, clock (really a clock was an option once), floor, leather (leather?!), mirrors"

Dan you should ask about the new roof option for the Spider made from 'chromatic' glass. When the roof is in the up position it can be switched between clear and opaque at the push of a button.
How about the classic Ferrari color 'Fly Yellow' for a change?

Geez, nothing like rubbing it in, LOL. Seriously, it's fantastic that you have one of the early allocations.

I am going to Italy for the Finals and will spend a day at the factory. Will let you know if I learn anything interesting. RHD cars will come later. I am also thinking about colour.

Dan. . . and uh whomever else. AMAZING timing. I just got the Carrozzeria Scaglietti Personalization Programme for the 458 Spider. There's a whole LOT of stuff in here. 4 different wheels. Carbon Fiber racing seats. Must be 50+ options. Uh I'll try to post it all. It's a lot of stuff though. Dan, what color did you get? I went metallic Red.
Oh and there's no electrochromatic roof. But there is "Handy Fire Extinguisher" lol seriously that's what it says.

The Fire extinguisher is a current option on the 458. It was on the F430 too.

Yes -- please post if possible! :)

I'm trying I'm trying but it's 31 page book of options. Gotta find a place to upload.
Here's some stuff not on the coupe:
    Carbon fibre exterior options
It’s possible to order some exterior options in carbon fibre:
Carbon-fibre front wings (Modis code FCWS)
Carbon-fibre rear diffuser (Modis code CEXD)
Carbon-fibre sill cover (Modis code CEXS)
Outer carbon-fibre fins trim (Modis code CERF)

The announcement on Ferrari.com talks about a new options program:

    Tailor-Made Programme

Ferrari chose Frankfurt to introduce a new service, displaying an area of the stand dedicated to the Tailor-Made Programme which will enable owners to reach an even more personal level of distinctiveness with the specification of their cars.

The Tailor-Made Programme provides clients with an extensive range of exclusive cloth trim, colours, finishes and technical materials for a final specification inspired by unique classic Ferraris and by motor racing. The selection is available in three innovative collections - Classica, Scuderia and Inedita – specifically conceived by Ferrari’s Styling centre.

In creating a truly bespoke car clients will be assisted by their own Personal Designer throughout the decision-making process, right up until delivery.

The Carrozzeria Scaglietti programme continues the range of personalisation options open to clients.

I just paid my deposit - but as the car only launches mid-next year in Australia - have no idea when I'll actually get it. It will also be interesting to see how allocations are made. I'm the second to pay a deposit in Perth but not sure if that is indicative of where I stand on the waiting list!! Anyway am planning to go to Maranello December 15 to spec my car - would like to see a few in the metal as photos aren't always a good indication of what looks best. My dealer gave me the pdf of the options book but I don't think it's much different from the coupe. Think it will be a long wait!!

Look at the auto car review:
    [ame]http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FTcfF4913ME[/ame]

Maybe it's just me, but the interior aluminum looks a lot darker, perhaps it's a new option, or it's just the lighting.

By the way, the that color combo is really growing on me, I like the three layer pearlescent bianco fuji.

It would be great to hear all of the options! And to see the configuratior up and running.
