Has anyone here gone from a 458 Spider to a Cali T ?

How have you found it ? Have you regretted moving ?

I traded my Cali 30 for a 458 spider early this year and have had an absolute blast driving it over the summer, 3000 miles and every one pure fun.

But I really miss the practicality of the Cali, as I have 3 young kids. 458 I only use by myself or with friends purely for a fun drive.

I'm test driving a Cali T next week that is my ideal spec - but thought is reach out to folks here.

Not sure if it belongs here or the Cali forum (or both!)
    Cheers
    Matt

You said it in your post- one is more of a daily car and one is more of a sports car. If you can have both thats the best. If you must have one then its the California.

So, that's obvious. 458 was not meant to be practical, never was... It's a supercar and not what you were looking for...

    Sell the kids? :)

I must say I really like the new Cali T. Never a fan of the old Cali. But it is a different car to the 458. What do you want? Do you want a sporting experience, or do you want more of a family experience? The two don't mix. Decision time!

Personally I think it wouldn't be a bad idea to buy a 458 Italia and a Cali for the same money as a Cali T (in Europe anyway).

Ferrari make the two cars for different buyers.

When l drove the Cali it was not as much FUN as my 360 spider. My kids are grown...dont want or need a back seat. Like rear mid-engine cars for the way they handle in our twisty mountain roads.

    Different folks, different strokes!

BTW: l have spent money on women, wine and fast cars...the rest l've just wasted. :D

So the 458 Spider answered my question by itself

I took her out for a spirited drive today on my favourite local backroads. The insane acceleration, the sound of the engine behind my ears at 9k revs, plus usual admirers (3 kids following me around town asking for revs and taking photos).

Car basically reminding me why I swapped the Cali - what was I thinking !

Solution is to buy something more interesting as the family car next year with 5 seats (RS6 or maybe Tesla P85).

But the 458 stays ;-). I have a slot for a 488 spider as an option.

    Thanks all for your comments.
