Hello all I'm a new member here and this is my first post.. I got delivery of my Spider (Avorio/Rosso) two weeks ago & I'm lovin it ! I'll share some pics soon .. I've been looking at the rear bumper carbon fibre recently and i'm really considering to change the bumper. Ferrari wants to charge around $13,000 for this conversion excluding labour and paint (two parts to replace my current bumper: a new lower bumper + the upper carbon fibre band).. I've been looking around in the forum and in the web for parts from crashed vehicles or used parts and couldn't find any so far.. do you guys know who's selling the dead 458s organs? I need help locating these parts .. I'd pay 4-7k for those but not $13,000 .. Help !! Image Unavailable, Please Login
Alternative would be to get wrap company to infill the section in a carbon film. Much cheaper alternative if it's only for looks Graham
I don't like the wrap. Doesn't give a nice reflection .. if i'm out of hope i'll wrap it in glossy black. The problem with car wrap is that it shows swirl marks after some time.
The upper part (part 2) wont fit to my current bumper. It is not a clip on , it cant be attached to the normal bumper. My current bumper is one piece (part 1 and 2 combined into one fibre glass mould). Bumpers spec'ed with the carbon from ferrari comes in two pieces (like the picture).
Agreed. I love the one piece carbon section below on my Italia, it really pops. The pics are difficult due to so much reflection coming of the carbon especially after the latest paint restoration detail. Image Unavailable, Please Login Image Unavailable, Please Login
I have just arrived in Maranello - going to the factory this week to do my spec. Carbon rear section IS one of the options that will be ticked Graham
I wish Ferrari had offered complete black challange grill as it did for 355 & 360 instead of partial carbon segment.
I have a source with a rear salvage bumper from a 458. We are currently considering having it molded for full carbon replacements. The full carbon bumper can then be painted to body color leaving the carbon exposed to replicate the "challenge' style factory bumper. David
Interesting! Let us know what happens with you ! I hope your salvage bumper has rear sensors and a camera !
