I am thinking of getting a 458 Spider but have some concerns about headroom.
I'm not that tall..6'2"..but must have a long torso or something because when I sat in a Spider with the standard seats (without slouching) my hair was just touching the headliner...no, I don't have big hair. :)
I have been keeping an eye out for a Spider with CF Racing seats therefore...but have come across a wonderful spec car with full-electric Daytona seats.
Apart from trying to track down a similar car seat set up to test sit in...any thoughts?
(The car in question is about 3000 miles away unfortunately.)
    Thanks.

I can't compare Daytona seats with standard seats, but I can say that the racing seats didn't offer me personally significantly more headroom than Daytonas. This surprised me after everything I'd read, but it was the case nevertheless (I was potentially thinking about fitting the racing seats to my car to give me more headroom when wearing a helmet).

There is no question that race seat is lower than the standard seat. I had an Italia with standard/Daytona insert seat and now race seat spider. My buddy had an Italia with the race seat. In its lowest position, the race seat is definitely lower. Plus, the race seat has less head bolstering to make room for helmet. In the standard seat - regardless of stitching style - the head rest of the standard seat comes out way farther than the race seat. This is clearly seen in photos. It is an issue for some helmet wearers in regards to comfort of driving position.
I am not getting into the argument - as that is what it becomes on this blog- as to which seat is better. Height difference is however, definitive. Whether it affects a particular driver is the only issue.
Of note is that race seat height -even without the "seat height adjuster" option - is variable. I do not know if the above person sat in a race seat equipped car with seat at its lowest mounting point. Of the 4 pin holes for the race seat mounting position, I had to put my race seat in position 2 in the rear and 4 in front for correct rake and height. My buddy has his rear pin in position 1 and front in position 3 for same rake but overall lower seat height. In my Italia I could never get seat low enough for my taste. The standard seat and its related height did make ingress/egress easier.

Sure, I'm not interested in an argument either, just reporting my personal experience. I'm 6'5" with longer legs relatively than torso. Is the "standard" seat different to the full electric Daytonas perhaps?

EDIT - it's also possible the race seats I tried were not in the lowest possible position? The car was a new 458 Italia in a dealer showroom.
