I'm not privy to any details about the upcoming Spider but if I had to guess, I'd be 95% sure that Ferrari won't equip the convertible version of the 458 with a folding hardtop. Not only does the mid-ship placement of the engine not allow enough space for it to retract, the Italia already looks like it will steal sales from the California-- fitting it with a hard-top would cannibalize it. I'd put money on seeing a soft-top.

Rumour is that Ferrari is waiting at least two years anyway to solidify the California in the production line. But rumours and not always true and Ferrari needs to make money so we will see.
