Good News, Ferrari N.A. has notified USA, Canada, and SA dealers that the first batch of 458 Spyders will be Airfreighted into the USA to get the cars into their very anxious owners' hands a little sooner than if shipped to Newark by sea, but, there is an associated expense (Bad News) which will be listed on the Window Sticker from the factory, be sure to temper your enthusiasm of getting your car a bit ahead of schedule with the knowledge that the price for airfreight will be in the 6k to 7k range and is sometimes a definite point of contention when not properly disclosed prior to delivery. Unveilings are going to be popping up at local dealers as the first customers' cars begin to arrive, FNA show cars should be at media and show events very soon here in the Southeast. Cant wait to hear the first one blow by!..Ciao, AB/

I have been in touch with FNA after posting my "Fly Cars" thread and posting on others that the words Ferrari and Free (although both starting with "F") are not to be found in the same sentence. My curiosity began when I was told my car "could be flown in for $4,000", which I agreed to immediately, while others were "told" their cars are being flown free. FNA said they did not believe a car would be flown anywhere for free (someone has to pay for it).

My concern for all of us was a lack of clarity and potential dissapointment for me and or others. Ferrari has never shipped or flown a car for free, so if they did it would be unprecedented.

Maybe someone will provide an invoice after receiving their car as evidence of the truth of the matter. I have no problem sharing mine when my car arrives sometime during the latter part of April first of May.

On the bright side, for those who do not mind spending the extra money, the cars get delivered more than a month early without worry of what happens at shipping docks etc. Best

To Clarify, any air freighted car will have a corresponding Airfreight surcharge on the Genuine Ferrari Factory Window Sticker right after the listed Extra Options Line and in between the MSRP total at the bottom, and is labeled as Airfreight Delivery. On the most recent cars to be airfreighted, (2011 California) the charge was around $7000.00 . If you have a relationship with a reputable dealer they will sometimes absorb/share/split the cost and must/should hopefully, as a courtesy, give you a choice of waiting or not. However, in most situations the first cars will be airfreighted with the assumption that the dealer network would have already anticipated this and prepped the clients in regards to this practice. I always thought the option should be addressed at the time the car was built and ordered with either airfreight or container delivery specified on the buildsheet, as there is a specific cost associated with each one, but often it is not. Hope this helps, AB

After "all this" discussion (this and other threads), it may boil down to "who" pays and how much. It is possible that some have paid MSRP+ and the dealer is willing to throw in all or a portion of the charges, while those who paid MSRP pay varying prices. Hopefully, as will be my case, we can honestly share with one another our experiences. Best

Just remember, TROJAN makes it a lot safer!! than riding on a Hooter without the protection of Trojan.
