    Occurs when the engine is hot. Y.ou have slowed to an idle. Eg. at a light

    Yes. My 458 did this right before my alternator failed. Problem has not returned since replacement 2 years ago.

    My car does this after a good ride. Engine is obviously hot and the car is at idle eg. waiting for the light to change. I switch the air off and with the car shuts off. Not all the time however. Today have taken it in for battery replacement & the larger yr service. Can't believe battery lasted almost 6 yrs. Did you buy the alternator from Ferrari? Who diagnosed the problem?

    The car gave me the “alternator has failed warning.” Dealership verified it failed. Was quite costly to have the dealer do the replacement as was discussed in another thread. This was 2 years ago on a two owner 2010 with low 20k miles.

    What was the alternator warning? The battery symbol plus the alternator has failed phrase? My car was going in for it's major service & a replacement of a 6 yr+ Interstate Battery. It had begun acting up at startup few wks ago.. I thought it was time to stop playing" longevity" and get a new battery.

    I don’t recall the exact text but it clearly said alternator failure. Not like the car was bricked either. I was able to drive it to the dealership 1 mile away. My advice is just to replace the battery and hope it fixes the symptoms. Best of luck!

    Thanks much Karl. I dropped it off for its major service Sat. to begin today. Told them about the occurrence. So decided to go with the New Battery, the Service and ck the alternator function. I never realized that the battery symbol actually represents alternator disfunction than just battery. this symbol did not & has occurred in my situation. Thanks again Karl.

    Post service= weak battery. No problems on way home.
