458 starting in Auto Mode

    DSG has wet clutch system with that said in start go traffic always wait and don’t try to tread lightly with throttle as that adds unnecessary slip and wear to even a wet clutch.

    Wet clutch means much less friction on clutch and slippage causing wear on the clutch. The DSG clutch is designed to last the life of the car under normal usage.

    I think this DCT allows you to not need a foot on the brake at all … being one of the latest DCT !

    Interesting. The DCT in the F12 you must have a foot on the brake in 1st gear at a stop or you will roll - same as in neutral. If you've just driven a DD with an auto you need to remember to keep the brake applied when stopped. I would think the 458 is the same but don't know for sure.

    It’s the same gearbox so yes. It’s to simulate and manage transition from single clutch which has similar behavior.

    Well it will roll but there's no load on the gear pushing you forward like an auto. It otherwise sits still with no pedal pressed in 1st.
