Hey everyone, I wanted to know what are the capabilities of the 458C telemetry. Coming from a 2010 gt3 cup with full motec data how does the 458 compare. Can I get data such as speed, brake pressure, throttle position, predictive lap, gear ect...I can get that by installing a vbox but wanted to see if that could be avoided. Will be running in the challenge series starting at Infineon.

Your team should be able to help you get set up.

They (or you) will want to download and configure the Marelli Wintax and Axon. Once set up, you can plug into the car (Dash/Datalogger) and get a LOT of parameters...

I am just learning this platform, so far I'd say MoTec is easiest to use, then AIM RaceStudio2, then the Marelli. You can get 120+ channels I believe, but definitely the ones you likely care most about are there.

    See you there

The 458 Challenge uses the same Marelli DDU dash logger as the 458 GT3 but with slightly less channels. This dash is also used on the Mercedes SLS GT3.

I think it has 60-70 channels in total with some really in depth stuff for the DCT gearbox. I'll check that number and get back to you with a list.

CAN channels are readily available to VBox's. I've done a few before so drop me a line if you want some pointers.

I don't think you mean telemetry, unless your intent is to stream it to the pits while on track. Just a pet peeve of mine, "telemetry" vs "data acquisition." That said, I suspect MoTeC can do both.

Yes, I get used to people confusing telemetry with plain old data logging. We can thank the talking heads on the tube for mixing that up for us.

While Motec could do both, it is, in my opinion, a backward step.

458 challenge car telemetry gives you lap times, speed, gear, throttle position, brake pressure, steering angles as far as I know

Do you know if Race Technology data logger can read a 458 Challenge Can bus?
Also, where can I buy a Wintax4 pro licencese, because when I get my 458 ch, it came with a unregistered wintax4 junior licencese, that does not allow to draw the track.

With Wintax4 junior you can generate the track if you have a beacon trackside. You need to drag and drop "speed" and "ay_can_g" to the speed and lateral acceleration windows under "track setup".

With regard to telemetry we have a low cost solution that works really well. We have live data from Axon. We can also view lap times from Wintax. We also run a camera with live streaming to the pits and we use Racelogic's video vbox as it is a great tool post race.
